I noticed that too. I was also told that at a Southern station the other day when i had asked. It is a shame the loo roll has started infesting the GTR network a few weeks ago. It is not clear though whether they even have the ability to issue on CCST on request? I have heard from some others that the Worldline system does not let you select the ticket type but others like Fujitsu and TTK allow you to choose? So i am not certain but it may be that they are unable to rather than just that they are instructed not to?
Obviously they're still issuing Travelcards and non-London seasons on CCST at Epsom. They did specifically say they've been ordered not to use CCST on request for other tickets.

Interesting that passengers are requesting CCST format. Sounds like the flimsy bog roll format isn't popular.

I bought a single Preston to Colne last week, got the ticket on card stock and the receipt on bog roll?

The cyber security incident that affected TfL for many months.
The one that dragged out for far longer than necessary and that they wheel out as an excuse for failure to deliver on almost everything, from procurement to Oval to FoIA legal responsibilities to mobile infrastructure rollout? That incident?

I can smell the sea from here, or maybe that's just the salt!

Quick query:

Given that GTR seem to have changed to these, does anyone know if Victoria is issuing bog roll for all journeys including South Eastern ones, or just South Central ?

My local GTR station can now issue to PRT but this morning I received two tickets on CCST and a card receipt on PRT.

I purchased my ticket on the train earlier today and as the guard printed it out from their massive roll, I wondered why it was quite so massive?

There is oodles of wasted space (although that does give it a certain clarity) but it also means it is too big to reasonably fit in wallets, phone cases, a lot of pockets etc.

Surely a design could have been found that was more efficient and used up a lot less of the loo roll, not to mention then being easier to keep safe?

Why is it so enormous? If that's the size of the printer, then surely print it at 90 degrees and then it would fit in a wallet card space etc.?

I just wondered if anyone knew.

The famous and unpopular "bog roll"! :)

It does fit your wallet. Fold it and place it in the notes section. I think the argument would be that most people who wouldn't have a wallet capable of containing cash would just be using their phone anyway.

True - but I find if I fold it - which i tend to do - then it wears / fades quite a lot which isn't great when - upon your return - you're desperately trying to get it to scan at a gate when you've got 20 seconds before the doors closed!

There is an updated version of the PRT print formats with less wasted space. The example in the original post appears to have been printed on a Fujitsu STARmobile machine.

As Fujitsu are exiting the market at the end of the year, they're still using the old layout.

Indeed, hence why the newer style of paper roll tickets have narrower orange borders compared with the original paper rolls.

Assume you mean Paper Roll Tickets rather than airline style tickets?

While I do have a soft spot for CCST the world moves on. I used to live a physical ticket for a sporting event on theatre but accept it’s all about barcodes now.

New Scotrail TVMs such as at Balgray print tickets on E - ticket style receipts. Still old style card tickets for most TVMs in Scotland.

If you still have the ticket, what is the machine number as shown at the bottom of the ticket commencing with CA

Indeed I did mean paper roll tickets , and yes as much as I agree the world moves on it would be much simpler if it didn’t fade and/or work the barriers . I rarely have such issues with CCST

South Eastern will be moving over to PRT as well I expect with their new retail kit.

Indeed. I must admit, I don't have as much reason to travel to Kent these days.

Surely a South East TOC moving over will only work when TfL eventually start accepting it? Or will they have both and just use CCST for things involving crossing London?
LNER has been using both since 2020 the system knows what can be issued where. With Fujitsu leaving the market the main two TIS both issue to PRT and CCST.
PS keep your eyes open for shorter PRT coming soon.
