Railway Gazette reports here that funding has been approved for Liverpool Baltic station (previously referred to as St James or Baltic Triangle) with a provisional opening date of 2025. I don't have access to the full article.

I've changed the date for Reading Green Park to 'early 2023', as per the article linked to from the Reading Green Park thread - quote below. Technically it should be moved to the '2023 and beyond' part of the table at #1.

Reading Green Park Station – the first station to open in Reading since Reading West in July 1906 - is scheduled to open in early 2023, once the necessary government commissioning process is complete.

Not a new station, but may be of interest, Barrow Haven station reopened today after a rebuild. Cost of £1.3m for a 60m platform, plus £26,000 for a new waiting shelter, cycle racks and station signage as well as a solar-powered help point.

Barrow Haven station reopens after £1.3m upgrade

A small railway station has reopened after six months of work to construct a new platform.

Barrow Haven, which sits on the Barton to Cleethorpes line in North Lincolnshire, closed in May for the work.

The new 196ft (60m) concrete platform has cost £1.3m.

Network Rail said the rural station was a "lifeline for the local community" and it hoped the upgrade would "really make a difference" for passengers.

Other improvements include adding raised tactile paving and East Midlands Railway, which operates services on the line, has spent a further £26,000 on a new waiting shelter, cycle racks and station signage as well as a solar-powered help point.

Network Rail's project leader Sandy Lynch said: "Located on the Barton line, this rural station provides a lifeline for the local community and these upgrades will really make a difference to passengers who use this station to get to work, go to school or pop to the shops."

The reopening was welcomed by the chair of the parish council, Alan Bruce.

"It has been a long time coming to get this platform remodelled because the old one, which was a timber construction, was literally falling apart."

A spokesperson for the Friends of the Barton Line added it was great to see trains bound for Barton or Cleethorpes calling at the station once again.

"Although the station is rural, it is used by lots of people, including cyclists, ramblers along the Humber Bank, or people popping to the local pub," they added.

With only 2000 passengers per year before Covid, if the average ticket is a tenner, about 65 years of revenue will cover it.

Yes.

One of the annoying things of modern life is the inability of organisations to fess up to delays, even after a deadline has passed. I just did an internet search and everything refers to December 2022. The formal website has a construction update (16 August 2022) which successfully manages not to mention a completion date at all.

I didn't notice any frost this morning but everything seems very slippy at the moment. Which is a roundabout way of saying that the opening of Portway Park & Ride is now given as early 2023. Material supply issues, installation issues, formal signing off procedures. See the station thread here for a link to a BBC News report.

Passed by Ashington station last weekend and despite being as far as I can find no fanfare around funding being confirmed construction has indeed started, photo below I posted in the project thread showing the new platform edges being put into place:

Picture taken this morning of progress on Ashington, precast platform edges being installed. Apologies for the quality but it was on my phone stuck through the fence, seems that the extent of the platform demolition was just enough to fit the new bay platform in rather than wholescale removal of the old down platform.

Just had a look at the Scotrail website and there isn't an option to select Inverness Airport as a departure point or destination.
Does this mean that the opening date hasn't been confirmed (If so, there's obviously no point in offering tickets just yet)? Or is it that Scotrail's website hasn't been updated?

As the first train shown on RTT is on a Sunday, it isn't going to be at silly o'clock in the hours of darkness so I was thinking of giving it a try.

The proposal for Corsham station under the restoring your railway fund, has moved on a step, as the SOBC (Strategic Outline Business Case) has been submitted to the government.

PLANS to build a £15 million new railway station in Corsham within the next five years are now one step closer to fruition after the Strategic Outline Business Case was submitted to the government.

As part of the SOBC, an economic assessment has been undertaken which clearly shows that all of the options on the table generate significant levels of demand, benefits and revenue.
The one-train-per-hour option would generate between 478,000 and 573,000 passengers per year in 2043, and the two-trains-per-hour option would generate between 976,000 and 989,000 passengers per year in 2043.

just to pick up on this, it isn’t a step forward. The step forward was the partial funding through Restoring Your Railway to develop this initial SOBC. It now has to be assessed and a decision made on whether to take the next step forward.

Realtime Trains now has trains calling from Saturday 21 January which would agree with what you have read.

I went past Thanet Parkway earlier and noticed the platforms look complete (at a quick glance from the train), with the signage up [all be covered with "do not alight here" stickers].

There are line capacity issues. In order to accommodate calls at Thanet Parkway work needs to be done to level crossings. More details here:

The main station construction is due to be completed by May 2022, but work will be continuing along other parts of the railway line to prepare for the start of passenger services in May 2023.

From the July 2022 newsletter on that webpage:

Before the station can open, the level crossing at Cliffsend needs to be upgraded and some adjustments made to the level crossing at Sevenscore.
Cliffsend level crossing is being converted from the current automatic half barrier crossing (two barriers in the lowered position when a train approaches) to a four
barrier crossing monitored by a signaller using CCTV cameras installed at the crossing (there will be two barriers either side of the crossing to completely close the road when a train approaches). This is a much safer form of level crossing. You can view and animation that explains these changes on the project webpage.

The initial design for this work has been completed and Network Rail will be moving into the detailed design phase soon. During this phase, residents in the vicinity of the crossings will be contacted with details of the construction work that will be required to make these changes. This will include some road closures and we will notify all residents of the affected dates and diversion route.

All of this work will be completed before May 2023, when the station will open to the public.

10 years on, it doesn't seem any closer to actually happening.

The proposed station was awarded funding from the 'New Stations Fund', but announced outside of the official rounds. A press release issued by the DfT here announced:

£401 million investment into upgrades to deliver brighter rail future
Investment for Transpennine route upgrade, increased freight capacity between the Port of Southampton and Midlands plus new stations at Exeter and Leeds.
£15 million from the New stations fund will also build new stations at Marsh Barton in Exeter, and White Rose and Thorpe Park in Leeds, to connect communities, support retail growth, improve access to employment and leisure, and support greener travel choices.

Of the three, Marsh Barton should have opened yesterday and White Rose is under construction. Last time I checked Thorpe Park was stated as 'Full Business Case' to be prepared in 2017-2023 period.

Update in November suggested that FBC expected by end of the year with approval to proceed decision expected to happen by the end of February but this was also highlighted in yellow with no key on the document, which may suggest that this deadline is at risk.

It's unclear whether the Gloucester trains will call at Ashley Down. Metro West only have the hourly service to Henbury.

Plenty of people lobbying for direct trains to Bristol Parkway, and a half hourly service to Henbury.

Just as well those 769s on North Downs will be freeing up Turbos for Metro West. Oh, never mind!

In absence of Turbo cascade, and in view of planned scrapping of the Castle Class HSTs, I'm assuming TfW 150s? Better than nowt, I suppose.

I'm fairly certain thats just an out-of-the box model used for the CGI...
It's fairly common that this sort of render doesn't actually use decent looking trains, which is a shame really. See also: most of the renderings flying around for the Oxford remodelling.
