I think the concept diagram is Oxford Road not Salford Central
.

Sorry slip of tongue on name, amended.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Thanks for this. Interesting stuff.
To be picky:
No intermediate dates given for NW Phase 2/3, just 2016 for the lot.
The trains in the new Piccadilly platforms look suspiciously like 313s...
I didn't see a Salford Central diagram, just Oxford Road and Picc.
It's a shame the Yorkshire planned work is "tbc".
It's time there was some more detail about TP electrification.

Surprised you didnt pick up on the Oldham Loop Line still being in the rail network map

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
NR presentation you might find interesting, starts with some shots of the electrification works then later has a concept diagram for revised Salford Central layout (surprised how far they propose relocating the platforms) and a render of Piccadilly platforms 15&16.

edit: Slip of tongue, meant Oxford Road not Salford Central

You had me all excited for a while about "how far they propose relocating the platforms" at Salford Central...then destroyed my fantasy with your clarification...:(

Seems to run on the 17th as well.
There's also a 2306 Preston-Parkside-Longsight on the 16th (can't be the same train).
realtimetrains thinks they are all Voyagers.

This test is still on for tonight (Mon 16 December).

As stated 1T00 2306 Preston to Longsight, normally a Class 57 drag via Chorley and...

1T07 2321 Longsight to Newton-le-Willows and return (off 2000 Euston to Manchester) with Class 57 running light engine just in case.

Both Pendolinos timed to pass somewhere over the Chat Moss line.

Could do with no cloud and a full moon!

Well the full moon will be there at least. ;)
Must be a test of whether the OHLE can cope with max power drawn by Pendolinos passing each other.

On reflection, the run I thought was on the 17th was my misreading of the data on realtimetrains - it's just that the return leg of 1T07 is after midnight.

Doubt the SRTs were there for the 390s when they put the schedules in. Voyager timings will be fine, could have put them in as pacers if need be.

Preston train 9 late arriving (2030 ex Euston 1P07).
Incidentally the usual ECS goes via Wigan and Bolton (5H00).

The 2000 ex Euston was on time at Piccadilly but seems to have gone back ECS to Stockport rather than Longsight...

Just guessing from realtimetrains...

1T00 left Preston 3 late. Reached Golborne Jn 5 late. No sign of 1T07 from Manchester yet.
No change in half an hour. Maybe they are waiting for a possession to start or something.
No doubt all will be clear in the morning!
It must feel like this at Mission Control at Houston, waiting for a crackly voice to come across the aether...

Quite funny that!

I believe 1T07 should be leaving Longsight approx. 0055 now.
Something to do with another service needing to be cleared of the Chat Moss lines before the two Class 390s go hell for leather past each other.
Something like that anyway.

It will all come out in the wash!

They'll be a pretty common occurrence soon enough I suppose anyway!

Don't know if i'll sleep though now with excited anticipation! ;) ;)

No not from me I'm afraid, it all happened just to late (or too early) for me.
Was going to Patricroft to view but the pass didn't happen till about 0124 near Eccles.

I believe the test went well though so over to TPE on the 30th.

Rumour has it there will be more in the new year as the Pendo's weren't fully instrumented for OHLE testing.

Surely the main purpose was a stress test, making sure they didnt blow a fuse or cause a brownout so to speak from the power draw of two hungry units

Is the most direct route to the depot in Liverpool from Piccadilly :P

I think you need a shunt to reach Edge Hill depot from the Huyton direction, or run via Lime St.
Currently there are several overnight ECS runs from Preston/Lancaster to Longsight/Edge Hill, all running via Crewe (reverse) except one which uses a 57 and runs via Ordsall Lane.
Potentially the Longsight ones could all run direct via Chat Moss, or Bolton when finished.
The Edge Hill one might have to continue via Crewe because of the shunt.

There don't appear to be any regular ECS runs between Longsight and Edge Hill.
There will inevitably be VT passenger services Liverpool-Euston via Earlestown during engineering diversions (via Manchester or Warrington).

Would it make sense for Virgin then to throw in a late night passenger service from Piccadilly to Liverpool using the 9 cars which could then go to the depot?
