There is an OHLE issue around Greensfield which has meant a trip via the bridges isn't possible.
Is there? As I’ve literally just seen an 802 there with pantograph raised which would suggest that the OHLE is useable

OHLE issues are only on the curve between King Edward Bridge East Junction and King Edward Bridge North Junction. Block to all electric traffic on that section.

On weekdays from December, the 14:33 Kings Cross to Newcastle and 18:27 return is pathed as a shortened 225 - however it is currently in the system as an unadvertised express so it may be removed.

I have it on good authority that the Mk4 sets are being shortened to 2+7 for the Dec 25 TT along with one service a day to Newcastle being formed of a 2+7 Mk4.

Overnight testing of 2+7 Mk4s commences “soon” so keep an eye out for overnight 5Zxx paths along the ECML originating from Neville Hill
Looks like the Newcastle service will be 1N09 SX 14:33 KGX - NCL 17:33 / 1Y20 SX 18:27 NCL - KGX 21:28.

LNER aren't going to remove one of an hourly service, especially when it's the only ECML service that feeds places like Northallerton and Grantham and it's in the evening peak at the north end.

No, but they might repath it as an Azuma, which would potentially alter some of the timings. Easier to hide it from their extended booking horizon until they know it's going to run as currently inputted.

Timings appear to be same for all the stoppers, though. I wonder if they're hiding it because the seating plan is different - tickets will go on sale for December fairly shortly.

I have been watching this thread with interest so this seems like tentative good news - a nice way to get to the parental home on a Friday. Shame not a Saturday service as that would be very helpful for getting home from the match ;)

I’m sure. But if the computer model would accept doubling the locos power… how quick off the line would it be?!
speaking hypothetically I would suggest:

Like excreta off a digging implement!

As I have mentioned up thread, the planned weekend working was the 12.33 & 16.27 return.

Since diagrams appear to have been planned for December, I assume the 7-car set tests were a success in keeping up with 80x?

That is not what the tests were for... they were for platform PRM compliance testing.

There was over night testing as seven car sets several weeks ago. I assume they are referring to that.

Which is exactly what I am referring to. Same with the tests this Friday. When I passed NL this morning a 225-7 was being formed up.

You would think they've never been there before...
But the stopping places of the accessible coaches will now be in different place on each train, hence why validation will be required.

How come they reformed them to 7 cars instead of 9?
Performance. The new December timetable is based on Azuma performance, the current one is in part still based on HST+9 performance.

With 82 tonnes tare weight removed, the power to weight ratio is more like an Azuma, so they should accelerate more similarly and thus achieve similar Sectional Running Times under the newly accelerated timings.

(I understand they still have separate timings in the new timetable, but the differences are less noticeable than if you compared them currently removing the various allowances. )

This may have been mentioned but if so I can't find it after trawling the thread - which 1st coach is being removed? I'm guessing it's the one next to the DVT (coach M) since the other two have the accessible toilet (L) and the crew area (K) respectively?
