I'm thinking of a station...

I didn't know if the Paddington service was considered InterCity or otherwise.

I don't think it matches the post-privatisation clue either.

How many male names begin with Leamington Spa?

Knew I should have said that before now

Yes, you're right of course.

Marylebone services only started circa 1990; the last Paddington service was in 2003.

(Not counting various engineering diversions since then.)

Didn't occur to me that it may have been VXC and not VWC

OK then; an easy one before I head off for the night:

This station serves as a junction between one electrified route and one non-electrified route, although in practice no through running is made from the non-electrified route under normal circumstances. The electrified route is 4x more frequent than the other route, uses stock which has one extra car per set than the usual stock on the non-electrified route, and merges with two other electrified routes in the conurbation where this station lies.

Extra Clue: This station has three of the five letters in my first name in it, and also three from my user title - but how much, if any, overlap is there...?

Just remembered that Thames/FGWLink also had a few Paddington services for a while, but these didn't last for long ended about the same time as the XC ones.

It's interesting to think that in the 1980s Leamington's only London service was effectively Crosscountry.

It was these exact services that put me off saying LMS in the first place! I knew those were NSE...

Just a little reminder; this is the current round:

Smaller than that, and further north as well.

There is through running between the non-electrified line (which is electrified for a short distance anyway) and the electrified line at Wolverhampton.

Gee, this is proving harder than I thought. I thought Eagle would get it for sure allowing for the name clues I gave.

A revised clue: Two of the seven letters in this station's name appear in both my (real) name and my user title, and a further two appear in one or the other.

Am signing off now. Will check back in the morning.

Letters in IVO + STEPHEN = …?

Originally I thought Barnt Green but that's to far south.

Euxton(-whatever-the-name-is) — near M6.

Huh? Not only is "Ivo" not applied to this (real name and user title, not user name), but you don't even have the right real name - only the first letter.

Euxton whatever-the-name-is is too far north, but not by much.

P.s.: It's Balshaw Lane.

Oh. User title, not user name.

How come on the PM you sent me a month or so ago it said Stephen??

Wigan North Western?

Because it didn't. But I need to PM you anyway, so you'll see in a minute or two.

Not Wigan NW. You are within 30 miles of the correct answer.

Not Stalybridge. No juice there (yet) ;)

It is within 30 miles of Wigan, but not 30 miles of Stalybridge, and is within one mile of a point at which a regional motorway terminates.

Good morning Eagle :)

Not LSP*. It fails on several counts, such as the electrification clue (I believe it has 7tph operated by 3xx/5xx, which cannot match a 4x clue?)

Also, has the clue that specifically states "seven letters" gone unnoticed? First introduced in Post #1398.

* I am aware that LSP is not this station's official TLC; that is LPY.

This station is one of two within this town but the only one to carry the town's name.
All services are provided by one TOC.
Although the station has the appearance of a terminus, no trains terminate here.
