This three-platform station is on a line that although not currently electrified is expected to be under the wires within 10 years or so. It is one of three stations to have the wider settlement's name in its name, and is one of the few stations that still sees a certain type of train in regular revenue operation. Very rarely, one might see a service reverse here; usually, this service terminates.

This should be easy

I thought that this would be called first time, but apparently not! Where is the third station that has Bristol in its name?

Still not right. There are four stations that have Birmingham in their names ;)

And without meaning to sound harsh, Piccadilly is just dumb. You sure you looked at the right clue Class172?

Only one station named Newport ;)

Another clue: Only one TOC serves this station.

@ Class172: Not Victoria either. It has six platforms, not three. Also, there are four (arguably even five if the Old Trafford halt counts) stations in Greater Manchester that have "Manchester" in their names.

Aye. That be correct!

On Sundays the first train of the day starts at Central, while the last service terminates at Central. This means that these two serve Bay, Queen Street and Central stations - and nothing else! And even better if the Bubble Car (the "certain type of train" mentioned in the clue) is running...

Ok there is talk of extending this station, but as it has a tunnel one side and a road bridge the other, might be difficult

It would seem that this thread has gone a bit, well, "dead", so I shall revitalise it...

This station is served by only one TOC and has a service that is relatively low on capacity, if (arguably anyway) not frequency, for a town of its size. It has three platforms, direct services to the prominent settlement in both its county and the one to the immediate north, and infamy on the Guess the Station thread for setting a trend that wasn't really welcomed. It recently lost a direct service to London.

I know that was easy. I wanted to inject some life into the thread!

In case anyone does not realise (something tells me you would though ), LWT appeared three times in virtually no time at all on GtS at one point!

Remember this?

8 platforms.
4 are through.
The remainder are bays split either side of the throughs.

Chew on that. :)

Looks good to me :|

I don't think it's alone though? Doesn't Doncaster count, for instance (it's not that tidy though)?

Is OxtedL going to return and enlighten us with the answer?

Well as OxtedL seems to have forgotten about this thread then I shall give an easy one to kickstart the thread.

I have 3 platforms, am served by loco-hauled trains and serve as a terminus for a metro system. Where am I?
