I'm thinking of a station...

Yes, you're right. In my defence I've just woken up and am still in bed in a state of undress. (Subtle, me?)

As you-know-who will tell you, I don't do subtle either. More ASD matters perhaps?

One for today (am going out so will check back later):

This suburban station sees all manner of different units passing through, but only one kind ever stops here under normal circumstances. It is situated within easy reach of at least one of the larger conurbation's secondary "centres", but also lacks a direct service to at least one of these "centres". It is on a line that is known for its architecture - and for its electrification set-up.

What took you?

I'll leave it for a certain electric locomotive to take care of that...

Is it on the Cross City Line by any chance, with only the Slows electrified out towards Reddich?

"On the Cross City" (probably my least favourite line of course) isn't a station - but no, it isn't. I am not aware of any notable architecture on the route, unless the new Selly Oak bypass counts. Otherwise, not a bad guess.

I was thinking midlands too, but more on the B'ham-Wolverhampton axis - Bescot Stadium?

Not in the Midlands, or on the Woodhead route. I will say that the required stations is in one of Manchester, Glasgow and London, and begins with a letter that in Scrabble would be worth between 2 and 4 points inclusive.

Nothing? Another clue: 4tph; within the M25.

Heading the wrong way from Willesden. Seen as I've got to go, I'll make it dead easy: It ends in "K" and has EMUs running fast through it at certain times.

Stratford; Barking and Ilford are also within range but a bit smaller.

The OHLE is not used by LOROL here, and the line is deemed to expensive to electrify fully due to its many viaducts.

(Correct, of course.)

That was the point. The teaser mentioned there are no direct services.

Well I dispute that it's within "easy reach" of Stratford being as you need at least two changes of train to get there.

There's a direct bus, though, but who cares about buses?

Stratford is the main local centre, but there are also Barking and Ilford nearby. It is easy to reach Barking, but the main one, Stratford, has no direct service.

Anyhow, is anyone going to put one up, or is that it?

I will.

Traditionally this station was always served by trains from a certain London terminus, although the exact route has varied wildly. However, services to a different terminus started a couple of years prior to privatization. Several years after privatization, the service to the original terminus was withdrawn.

The service to the newer terminus nowadays is considerably faster than any service to the older terminus.
