I may get a little stick for saying this, but to be quite honest the idiot deserved it for not having any common sense!
You see it all the time, and on numerous occasions ive been pushed out of the way by a camera wielding muppet on their way to get pride of place on the platform edge. One day i know ill see someone end up on the track due to photographers being so rediculously wreckless. I hasten to add that not ALL photographers do this, but sadly in my experience a great deal do.
Guy's please dont think im targetting ALL photographers, im not and i appreciate it is the minority, however that minority is far too many for my liking when its possible lives could be at risk

You'll get no stick from me Kernowfem! There are some objectionable enthusiasts and photographers around. Like other pastimes and professions, the majority get to suffer because of the stupid activities of a minority. They probably consider themselves to be blameless as well, when they are approached by staff who try and point out that what they are doing is not safe.

I have to agree with that, though I think it's the minority that do this.
As with so many things, it's the minority that ruin it for the majority, but also the minority that get the attention.

I agree, having seen some photgraphers acting completly stupid myself on a few occasions.
I must admit i honestly though the train had clipped him when i first watched it.

That could well have been a snuff movie.
It reminds me of a rather similar & well known video of a fatal accident in the US, where mother & daughter get off a train, then run around the back of the train they just stepped off of on a foot crossing, the mother hears/sees the fast approaching train, but the daughter is too close and is hit at relatively high speed and catapulted towards the cameraman. At which point the film stops.
I honestly hope that someone recognises this idiot & the BTP get involved. It is crass and stupid antics like this that give the real, careful and genuine photographer a hard time.

Maybe it is my warped sense of humour, but I'd have laughed, if the driver had stopped the train, came back and poleaxed him for being such an idiot. 
Like I said in a previous post, this pillock for use of a better word, has just spoilt things for those who do things properly.

It was indeed a woman and her lawyer....I only ever watched that video once on you tube, it haunted me for days the way she just skidded along the ground almost taking the cameraman with her.
Why is it in some cases when an adult is within a certain vicinity of a railway his/her brain seems to turn itself off???
Referring back to the first video, that is the closest near-miss I've seen so far (but undoubtedly there are many others). It seems wherever you go, there will be at least two or three people who break the rules, go to far off the edge of the platform or tresspass to get that shot. I've seen it countless times at places such as York, where people are hanging off the side of the platforms and going past the "Do not pass this line" signs. Admittedly some of them seem to be positioned too far back up the platform, but people still go further that this and I've watched BTP do nothing about it in some cases.
You'd think that it would take an injury or death to put sense in people's minds, but I have to say I bet it doesn't and people will go on continuing to do it. All I can say is that the people who break the rules are selfish individuals, who spoil it for the rest of us, and also selfish as they don't think about what the consequences and the effect it could have their family, friends, other passengers and staff.

Doubt it, he probably thinks it is one big joke and is more disapointed that his video was ruined.. Hopefully it'll remind him and others like him to stay well outside of loading gauge at all times no matter whether ye are photting, videoing, gricing or whatever!

I admit, I was one of them. At first I thought it was wrong seeing people do it, but then I saw the Network Rail staff just having a laugh with the enthusiasts who were doing it (shouting stuff like "take a photo" etc.) and got the impression it was okay. Went down once or twice, but after the 314 event you mentioned, I realized it was wrong and never again have I went down there!
Was this why that Network Rail guy roared at those two older guys? All I seen was them running from the ramp-end of the platform.
I don't think the Network Rail guy was too happy with them, and I can admit to being on the ramp as well, it was the only way I could get a half decent pic of 44871.
