If the DMU had of come through a few seconds earlier it might have taken out the guy with his tripod over the edge of the platform.

That was far too close for any kind of comfort...Some careful playing around with the [Pause] button shows that the gent in question was no more than six inches from the train itself. Consider what would've happened if the turbulance had pulled his jacket further into the train and it'd gotten caught on something? hock:

This one had a very lucky escape as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully it'll remind him and others like him to stay well outside of loading gauge at all times no matter whether ye are photting, videoing, gricing or whatever!

It was refreshing to see that they appeared to be laughing and joking about it. Normally you just see people jumping up and down and throwing the toys out of the pram when incidents like this commonly occur on the railways.

See them running as triples quite a few times at Clapham Junction, though sometimes you get 2 x 159 and 1 x 158 as well.

This is what I find the most bizarre, worrying thing about this video; that nobody bothered to tell him to get out the way! I know many rail enthusiasts aren't the most confident of people, but you'd think someone shout 'MOVE!' or quickly say 'there's a train coming' and wave your arm to indicate the importance of what your saying! I would have shouted at the fella to get him out the way then gone into a tirade about how stupid he had been! Then I'd apologise and give him a hug or somethin'...

I'd say that the footsteps below the doors must have been within 2 inches of ripping a slice through the chap. How his coat didn't get caught on one of the footplate's I don't know, but it would have meant near certain death if it had. Scary stuff... It'll do non of us any favours if this video makes it to the mainstream media, I've got a feeling it will though, this video is just that unbelievable!

They do, but only at 0:25. They may have sounded the horn before then, but if they did, you couldn't hear it over the noise of the kettle.

Sure did and he still decided to take pictures!

These are the sort of people what give other enthusiasts a bad name, another thing is why did he have to stand that close to take a picture, surley from where he was standing there was enough room to take it in a safer place out of the way of other trains? And from the video there wasn't many veg around so he could of decided to take it from a safer distance away from the line.

Yes, twice, but the first one is lost a bit in the sound of the kettle.

Unfortunately, I think it may only be someone getting killed like that that will make some people realise they need to be a bit more careful, and pay more attention.
Worryingly, I think that some will happily risk their lives, knowing that they are, to get the right photo.

It is such a shame when someone like him has to be plain stupid about it and stand almost on the track. I'm sure his family would of said it was the railway's fault as well should of he been hit by the train (which thank god didn't happen).

& Of course when "Normal" photographers come to railway stations they get denied because of the likes of him....

True. All thought of 'Jobsworths' and 'Health and Safety madness' tend to go out of the window for relatives of an accident. Yet this is exactly what is said by some when staff are trying to ensure that the platform or wherever is as safe as possible for ALL users of the railway.

nope, I meant the chap seems more annoyed about the DMU spoiling his vid in the one where he almost got hit by it, I can tell looking at his facethats the look of dissapointment but in all seriousness it is worrying that he isnt at all phased by what just happened.
