Grand Central HSTs?

Interesting to see that in Standard Class the seats/tables actually line up with the windows - it's taken over 30 years for someone to do that!!

The refurbishment is much more classy than I thought it would be. The whole company has echos of GNER in its ability to display style and class. There uniforms as modled by BOSCH and his conductor yesterday are very nice.

You guys using Advantix for your ticket issuing facilities?

Evening ColOrd,glad you like it,the refurb is not quite finished as curtains and anti-macs need to go in 1st class to complete the look.We tend not to mention the "G" word if we can help it though ! The uniforms are indeed very nice,we were all individually measured for the uniform so that helps,in the last 2 weeks people have mistaken us for cabin crew,even my own partner said as I tried my uniform on "you look just like a pilot" to which I replied "I wish I had his bloody wages" !!!!
And before I forget,yes we will be using Advantix,

The seats and windows don't quite match up in standard
This looks like the "old" intercity low-density configuration, giving 72 seats rather than 76 seats
If you want to almost guarantee yourself a seat, then you want to travel in the TGS as there should only be 5 airline seats!
Unlike first class which has 6 seats per window, across the coach, giving 48 seats

Bosch is right, there will NOT be a TGS in the 'standard' formation. Why people get it wrong when the right info is out there, and on here is beyond me!

Grand Central changed their spec so that the "guard" area was in the buffet, removing the need for a TGS
Just checked the ORR and the spec hasn't been updated on there...
A slight oversight, let's hope they remember to inform them!

Bah, they look rubbish, why dont people admit it, the livery looks stupid, the front ends look pretty knaff, But more so, the interior is horrid, absolutely rubbish. But im not exactly complaining, as i think it will be great, reminds me of 90's interiors, great stuff.

I was privileged to attend a talk by Ian Yeowart yesterday evening. He
mentioned the BBC programme, and I suspect the following titbits will
also be of interest to the newsgroup:
- The rolling stock has been certificated for use on the ECML
- The first set is at Newcastle, but was vandalised on Wednesday
evening (graffiti, it seems)
- After it has been cleaned, about a 48 hour job, the set will
commence two weeks of test running on the ECML
- Commercial services should start at the end of those two weeks
- With Grand Central, what you see is what you get. Honesty, not spin,
is the name of the game
- The fare structure will be simple. Fares from York to London will be
£39 single, £64 return; 1st class double those. Peak departures will
incur a straight £15 supplement. Tickets will be available on board,
at no surcharge
- Drivers will be in charge of the traincrew, and will multitask
- They are looking to run a 4th service from May 2008. An early
evening departure from KX is hoped for
- On board service, including catering, will be to at least GNER
standards

So, more HST services on the ECML before Christmas

...and, ive gon back on my words (partially), after seeing one of the 43's on it and getting a 'proper' look... i like the black livery, well exept from apart from the 'bitty' warning panel front ends, its a nice change!

It's nice to see what was going on with the pretty long delay. The staff all look really enthusastic (they'd have to be to do over 8 months of training!) and I think we can expect great things from the company once they get going.
