Good point. I hope they go up through the playoffs. Historically massive team like them deserves to be in the efl.Much more impressive for Notts County than for the millionaire's plaything that is Wrexham.

More of the same tomorrow please!Duk - 16 seconds for Aberdeen against Kilmarnock a fortnight ago.
While hard up Rochdale and Hartlepool head the other way, with Pools staying up in League 2 for only two seasons, and Rochdale for just one.Happy for Wrexham - decent team and good bunch of fans - but also not buying the whole “miracle” thing. Same as it ever was: foreign sugar daddies pumping money into English football.
Not true. The original sugar daddies were English. e.g. John Houlding (who founded the original 'sugar daddy club').Happy for Wrexham - decent team and good bunch of fans - but also not buying the whole “miracle” thing. Same as it ever was: foreign sugar daddies pumping money into English football.
Houlding wasn't a sugar daddy, he was a rapacious and increasingly unpopular businessman who loaned Everton money and worsened the terms for his own benefit, and tried to make the club buy his land at a jacked up price! He then founded Liverpool simply to fill the void, which was operated as a going concern for profit, not as a millionaire's plaything. He was an investor and a speculator, not a sugar daddy. Not true. Though Stockport County have clawed their way back, after falling to the sixth tier a few years ago. Doesn't seem that long ago they were well established in the third tier with the occasional foray into the second. Now there are three football league clubs with very long histories in the Greater Manchester area who will start next season outside of the top EFL, Bury, Oldham Athletic and Rochdale.
It was only recently that Bury's record 6-0 FA Cup Final win was equalled by Manchester City and Oldham Athletic were one of the original members of the Premier LeagueThough Stockport County have clawed their way back, after falling to the sixth tier a few years ago. And a glance at the bottom of the National league shows four former FL clubs Torquay, Yeovil, Scunthorpe and Maidstone dropping to the next level. Now there are three football league clubs with very long histories in the Greater Manchester area who will start next season outside of the top EFL, Bury, Oldham Athletic and Rochdale.

I wasn't sure if your problem was 'rich men pumping money into English football' or the fact that Wrexham's owners are foreign.Houlding wasn't a sugar daddy, he was a rapacious and increasingly unpopular businessman who loaned Everton money and worsened the terms for his own benefit, and tried to make the club buy his land at a jacked up price! I can't speak for @AlterEgo on this but while rich men pumping money into football is within the rules, I do have a problem with the clubs that they are buying success for being labelled as plucky underdogs.I wasn't sure if your problem was 'rich men pumping money into English football' or the fact that Wrexham's owners are foreign.
I was talking about the sugar daddy fantasy where clubs are run at a serious loss for the personal satisfaction of the super fan owner, which disadvantages clubs run in a sustainable manner and spoils competition. As I pointed out it’s hardly a “miracle” Wrexham have earned promotion back to the heady heights of English football’s fourth tier with the preposterously large budget they have for their level. It was entirely to be expected. That’s not begrudging their success, which might fairly be described as a fairytale, where a wealthy prince marries the farmhand. I said I was happy for them and their fans, whom I like and respect.I wasn't sure if your problem was 'rich men pumping money into English football' or the fact that Wrexham's owners are foreign.
Most Liverpool fans don’t know much about Houlding but I am certainly aware of the history. And he wasn’t a sugar daddy. That’s a completely incorrect reading of the history as I’ve pointed out. He was an amoral and disinterested brewery owner and speculator who treated football clubs as a business and a cynical route to market his drinks. More like a Mike Ashley character.Liverpool FC don't seem to be ashamed of this part of their history.

And nor should they be. But maybe their fans should be aware they live in a glass house before they throw stones at other clubs.
Indeed so. Their defence has already spoken more than words can say.Let's not speak about spurs, yeah?
I was hoping Brighton would win. Both teams defended well and attacked horribly. An FA Cup Manchester derby. Hope there'll be extra Avanti on that day!
Sounds like a cheap sparkling wine.An FA Cup Manchester derby. Hope there'll be extra Avanti on that day!
You may say that those are the rules, but they are bloody stupid rules.

Well seeing Spurs have six games left to play and Stellini was sacked after only four, the end of the season is maybe stretching it a bitChristian Stellini has been sacked as Tottenham interim manager & been replaced by Ryan Mason for the rest of the season.

I guess you mean the owner/s should sack Levy.Spurs’ chickens are coming home to roost. This is what happens when you have an owner who has no ambition and a squad who follow that mould.
