Somebody is going to have some explaining to do
Just feel sorry for the fans, particularly those who had travelled from Bournemouth.
Unless Man Utd beat Crystal Palace next Saturday, when West Ham go into the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League.
they are already 1 point ahead of West HamIf Manchester United either draw or win their final home game of the season against Bournemouth, they will overtake West Ham United...
If Manchester United either draw or win their final home game of the season against Bournemouth, they will overtake West Ham United, having gained more points and be in fifth position.
However, should Manchester United lose, than they will have the same number of points than West Ham United, but with an inferior goal difference, meaning that West Ham United will finish in fifth position.
I'm sure West Ham would love to be 5th, but they are 7th with Southampton currently in 5th by Goal Difference![]()

Would this be Soton's first international appearance, then?
They played in this year's cup, went out in the playoff round I believe,

I have just taken a telephone call to inform me that BBC Red Button is said to say that the package that was destroyed in the controlled explosion was something that was accidently left there by a private training company who were using the stadium.
Can someone check the veracity of that.
to take the positives: At least the evacuation plan and emergency service response worked well.
To repeat a joke from the Huddersfield Town forum:
I feèl really bad for all those supporters who travelled up from the South Coast for this game...
... And the Bournemouth supporters too!

Not forgetting the very recent organised large-scale terrorist simulation that was carried out at the Trafford Centre, so at least the incident at Old Trafford would have been a real-life scenario in how large numbers of people in a sports stadium had to be dealt with by the forces in charge.
Well we properly Spurs'd up our play-off first leg at Valley Parade, losing 3-1 to Millwall despite taking the lead and outplaying them for most of the second half. We've been here before in the playoffs, still crossing fingers for Friday, but can't really see a way back. It's been the same problem we've had all season, we just can't score enough goals. That said, I think we'd have our asses handed back to us on a plate in the Championship, which did no good at all to Yeovil, Scunthorpe and Doncaster (among others) so it may be a blessing in disguise.
Still, at least St Totteringham's Day cheered me up![]()
Way too many questions to answer if it was
You might still get an all-Yorkshire final in the Championship - it looks like Hull vs Sheffield Wednesday right now...Was hoping for an all Yorkshire final in the 3rd division, will be cheering on Barnsley if they don't throw it away in the 2nd leg. Hoping for another local derby next season...
There's going to be an inquiry into the incident.

Tin foil hat on. I am just not buying this "left behind from a training exercise" thing.

Quite amusing to see the celebrations at the Emirates, and all for finishing second. Anybody know when the open top bus parade is?![]()
Hope Wednesday go up, can't stand Steve Bruce as I've never forgiven him for selling Marcus Stewart to Ipswich.
Seems a perfectly plausible explanation to me. Whether it justified the game being called off is another matter.
Yes. I agree a plausible explanation. But a very convenient one.
Blessed are the Premiership conspiracy theorists, for they shall never suffer from the winning of that league.
Played well last night but had a bit of luck with Brighton losing 4 players and having 2 suspended. We may just regret not killing the tie off on the night but if you'd offered me a 2-0 lead to take to Brighton pre match I'd have been delighted. We go again on Monday night, which will be a Tuesday morning 2:45am kick off for me... this tie is absolutely not over.
