It's interesting to see that news article. For a long time I've had the feeling the British were taking the lockdown way more seriously than other nations.
Possibly it's the messaging being a little more patriotic ("Save the NHS"), and also the concept that going for a 2 hour walk alone is worse than going for a 1 hour walk alone. A lot of people seem to have extrapolated out of that that every second spend beyond your front door is somehow endangering lives. It's only from British people that I have heard the notion that not going for a short walk alone in open parkland is even more virtuous that taking the opportunity of your 1 hour exercise.
