Sevenoaks MP Laura Trott is promoting more Maidstone East line services from December in the peak (from Otford and Swanley in her constituency), which are the 08:44 Maidstone East - Charing X, 18:59 CHX-Ashford, plus 09:28 AFK-Victoria and 21:55 VIC-AFK extending half-hourly periods for another hour. I'm guessing this is where some of the 377s Southeastern are getting from Southern will be going.

Has anyone double-checked her maths :D

The Newquay branch service has appeared overnight - two-hourly, all using p2, but the first train shown starting back from Penzance SX and departures from Newquay from 09.20 to 19.20 with four minute waits at Goss Moor, also SX.
;
Sunday service remains three trains, but shown p.1 at Newquay

Outside of summer season (and any other dates long trains need to run) the normal platform usage will be platform 2 Mon-Sat, platform 1 Suns. This ensures that the points are operated at least twice/week in winter and the rails on platform 1 are kept free of rust.

Wasn't Birmingham Cross City suppose to have a recast so it was an even 15 mins timetable?

They might be run by 377s but most (if not all) of these don't look to increase the unit requirement.

The 08:44 Maidstone East - Charing X takes the unit currently forming the 9:14 and that train now formed from an additional 07:57 Charing X to Maidstone East which currently runs empty to Grove Park Depot. 09:28 Ashford to Victoria is formed from 2N14 which currently goes empty to Ashford Sidings. The evening ones unless empty paths are missing are from splitting longer trains and running 2 4-car trains instead of 1 8-car.

Noticed on Real Time Trains the Leeds-Sheffield Northern fast services are showing as cancelled, has the start date been pushed back?

Only for the first few days. Christmas / New Year engineering works affects Leeds quite heavily, so I imagine likely they will need amendment.

A few other changes on Southeastern from December 2025 include:
The present (2A88) 04:34 Swanley to Victoria (all stations via Beckenham Junction) is WITHDRAWN
It its place is a new (2B88) 04:23 Swanley to Victoria service calling at St Mary Cray, Bickley, Bromley South, then NON-STOP to Victoria (albeit a staff stop is shown at Nunhead) arriving at 05:00
A new service at 04:35 from Orpington to Victoria (all stations) will replace the stops via Beckenham Jnct

A new service 1V94 from Charing Cross to Hayes at 08:02 running non-stop from London Bridge to Hayes replacing an existing ECS move.

Meanwhile on LO suffragette line there will be a later last eastbound service on Sunday nights at 23:25 from Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside. Current last train is at 23:10.

Looks like the new service from Swanley runs empty from Gillingham to start there, like the current one does. I'm guessing it has to start there as this is the beginning of DOO. Having a further look on RTT, unless there's some stuff in there already, it merges with the 05:34 from Orpington and both run together on the 06:33 to Gravesend.

That could be an interesting enthusiast experience.

I could swear in a previous timetable there used to be some non-stop Hayes - London Bridge (then onwards to either Charing Cross or Cannon Street) services in the evening peaks which were glorified ECS services (basically one or two peak time extras to Hayes running in passenger service back towards London where the units could form another service)

There are still some unadvertised fast runs between Hayes and Lewisham at the end of service, so the trains in question can be shut down before running to a depot (Hayes has issues with staffing and late night safety). In a similar neck of the woods, the Beckenham Jct-Blackfriars' services run fast between the two in the contra-peak flow direction, given the units involved do 2-3 complete circuits each peak, which would make repeated train shut downs ahead of ECS moves an unnecessary hassle.

It does always strike me as odd that thameslink and the peak Charing Cross - Gillingham via Dartford services can run DOO through the medway towns to Gillingham & Rainham but Southeastern require a guard on the mainline Victoria services through the medway towns.

That could be an interesting enthusiast experience.

Given that 1V94 from Charing Cross to Hayes at 08:02 will have 7.5 minutes pathing allowances on the "non-stop" run from London Bridge to Hayes, i don't think it will be quite so thrilling as one might expect. Southeastern could quite easily have had this service call at all stops from Elmers End to Hayes and the train would still get to Hayes at the same time since it closely follows 2V20.

Its kind of similar to the odd Contra-peak Charing Cross to Orpington "expresses" at 08:12 (1S94) and 08:45 (1S96) which are non-stop london bridge to Orpington but cross over to the slows by Grove Park and have to crawl behind a sevenoaks stopper with 8 minutes pathing time. Meanwhile at similar times to these Orpington "expresses" Southeastern run an 08:12 ECS to Tonbridge and an 08:37 ECS to Orpington, both of which run on the fasts all the way to Orpington and if these ran in service instead they would be about 8-10 minutes faster than the "express" 1S94 and 1S96. Still its better than everything being ECS.

Indeed there absolutely were.

Is the benefit of running these trains non stop and with pathing time that in the event of disruption they can recover delay so as not to transmit that delay between earlier and later trains?

They were indeed. The same was true from Charing Cross in the contra AM peak with 1Sxx services, they were basically quicker than trying to detrain at congested platforms; just have the driver change ends and go. Pretty much nobody on them and Orpington could do the proper train clearance.

Are these the ones that are due to be worked by 170s?
I havent heard that one, I don't think this is true just on the basis of it would be very limited for drivers from the Leeds with only approx 1/3 of drivers who sign Sheffield also signing 170s

I heard rumour, and have just seen that it is true, that from December TFW are operating a shuttle service between Wrexham & Chester as 2Dxx & 2Jxx with 2J00 0701 CTR - WRX being the first of the day,
I think this is (finally) making use of the re-doubled section between Saltney Jn & Rossett Jn, added in 2018 meaning wrexham now has an 2tph service, something it has not regulalrly had for quite some time (guessing sometime under BR was the last time it might have? as I don't recall anything this regular in my lifetime!)

I've heard rumour too that eventually the 'Crewe Shuttle' will be extended to meet this shuttle eventually forming a Crewe - Wrexham Shuttle, but that hasn't materialised so that's probably just a rumour...

Not checked the whole thread but Duddeston is moving off the Four Oaks and onto the Lichfield services (although I guess start and end of service might be different)

That is the plan for later in 2026 apparently.

It was rumoured to be 170 operated at one point but looking at RTT it appears 158's will be more likely. The board which starts from Leeds in the morning is timetabled from Platform 10B, having operated a Leeds-Knottingley board the previous day and thus very unlikely to be a 170 - though of course things may change!

I don't see how they'd operate it with 170s. It often seems like they don't have enough to operate the services they do already. Also, what would cascade them down, and from where? They are based at Hull, so the Sheffield-Scarborough services wouldn't change. And the Harrogate loop is certainly too busy for sprinters all day, especially at the Leeds end.

Having had my ear to the ground today it turns out the plan is for 170s and now panic has set in because of the reasons above so a rethink is possibly on the cards for traction or carefully written driver diagrams

I really have no confidence they’ll be able to do it, for crewing and availability reasons. Additionally if I end up with sprinters because the 170s have been cascaded I will be mightily annoyed

Northerns 1Nxx Leeds Wakefield Sheffields require two sets per day - they pass each other around South Kirkby area IIRC - with comparatively short turn rounds at either end. I'm expecting them to be the first causalities in any route disruption, they depart in front of the 2Nxx to arrive behind the previous 2Nxx departure at the other end. Little scope to run anything else additional on the West Riding as a result.

I'm wondering where they will find two DMUs of any description, especially if the number of class 150 diagrams is being reduced, as mentioned in another thread.
