93001 is now at Locomotion and will be named this weekend
Heading back to Worksop from Shildon.Just seen 93001 on a low loader heading south on the A1M near Boroughbridge
That's good to hear. Thanks for the info.First revenue earning services are planned for next week. Working for ROG
What will they be doing?First revenue earning services are planned for next week. Working for ROG
I have been given the impression it is Derby to Ely STP 5Q46.First revenue earning services are planned for next week. Working for ROG
Has the ORR authorised the entry into service of the 93?First revenue earning services are planned for next week. Working for ROG
Last I read was :-Has the ORR authorised the entry into service of the 93?
Not seen anything public (yet) to say they have.
Normally they tweet a copy of the letter stating that this has happened.
That was 21/09/2025.They were moved out of Worksop as there was trackwork going on at the entrance to the down yard. They were simply moved to Castle Donnington in case they were needed for driver training and ended up trapped in Worksop.
Word from inside the project is that the class 93s received their NRSC from NR for service operation on Friday. There has been a bit of a delay on this due to holiday season. Just waiting on AsBo approval now but this was just waiting for the NRSC.
They don't look like test runs and 3Q87 is a Colas operated Network Rail test train. As amusing as it would be for the first service hauled by a 93 to do the Merseyrail loop there is no chance it will haul that train. You are just making wild guesses. The runs I posted just two posts up look more like test runs ?.
I was told about the first STP 5Q46 being a run for 93s so worth keeping an eye on that. They don't look like test runs and 3Q87 is a Colas operated Network Rail test train. As amusing as it would be for the first service hauled by a 93 to do the Merseyrail loop there is no chance it will haul that train. You are just making wild guesses.
Thanks Mark. I never knew that long number identified the operator. There must be a list somewhere ?,For future reference, TSCs beginning 5249511x are Colas IM workings:

The [Test] is a bit of a giveaway, too!

Thanks Bob for the formations. To my limited knowledge/memory the 6344 and 6346 look like barrier coachesFrom an email posted on the local East Midlands Gen (EMRG) group last night, sticky digits included.

Infrastructure MonitoringIM - in my 1970s memory that was Immingham Depot, I suspect its not now though ?.
What does STP stand for?I have been given the impression it is Derby to Ely STP 5Q46.
Short Term PlanWhat does STP stand for?
As @andyjhatton says - STP stands for Short Term Plan (it appears as STP against schedules for a location when looking at RTT).What does STP stand for?
Who will it be earning revenue from?
Thanks - I should have guessed thatInfrastructure Monitoring
I thought that one of the specifications/justificatons for the 93s was that they wouldn't need barrier coaches at all, able to run at line-speed and doing away with the costs of slow paths and shunting etc.?Thanks Bob for the formations. To my limited knowledge/memory the 6344 and 6346 look like barrier coachesOR are they some sort of track recording train?.
EDIT - google leads me to believe they are barrier coaches (or more predominantly hoover washing machine parts !).
Yes, I seem to recall same.I thought that one of the specifications/justificatons for the 93s was that they wouldn't need barrier coaches at all, able to run at line-speed and doing away with the costs of slow paths and shunting etc.?
There is stock at Ely that cannot be translated too requiring the use of barriers.Yes, I seem to recall same.
Maybe its small steps at a time, the stock they are moving is not complete enough OR the two barrier coaches are gong to Ely for storage !.
Confirmation taken from a member of staff at ROG who deals with class 93, that it is indeed the path you mention above:-From an email posted on the local East Midlands Gen (EMRG) group last night, sticky digits included.

Hi all, been a short while since you’ve had an update but there are some things happening next week that are likely to be of interest to many!
Tuesday 0Q57 & 5Q46 will be ran as a pair of 93’s (the latter with some barriers) with the first haulage move being undertaken on Thursday; likely 5Q70, signalling the start of these machines that have spent so long being scrutinised and tested, being worked on the Network.
You’ll ask me which ones, I’m confident in 001 ‘Armed Forces Covenant, but second is TBC

Thankyou for the confirmation and extra information.Confirmation taken from a member of staff at ROG who deals with class 93, that it is indeed the path you mention above:-
Not sure that simply moving empty rolling stock around should count as revenue earning, even if the stock and haulage have different owners. As for who its earning revenue from. Putting two and two together (badly I fear) I think the next job will be moving some stock from Ely between the barrier coaches.
Revenue is revenue. The BranchLine Society article advertising one being used at Barrow Hill on Friday states that they are going to be used on fast container workings, presumably by Freightliner as somebody suggested earlier in this thread. Not sure that simply moving empty rolling stock around should count as revenue earning, even if the stock and haulage have different owners.
Wouldnt have done in old-school days when it was all one railway.
it earning the company money? Yes, so it's revenue! Not sure that simply moving empty rolling stock around should count as revenue earning, even if the stock and haulage have different owners.

Well it’s not one railway anymore. Leasing companies require their rolling stock moved around the country for a variety of reasons and that’s where companies like ROG earn part of their revenue from. Not sure that simply moving empty rolling stock around should count as revenue earning, even if the stock and haulage have different owners.
