A different combination seen out in service today. 456019+456016+455848 working together. 456s have always been limited to working in multiple of units which have had their PRM-TSI modifications and Call for Aid system fitted, which has only been 455/7 units. 455848 certainly hadn't had any of the PRM-TSI modifications, so I can't imagine it has had a Call for Aid fitted, so I was quite surprised to see it working with 456s.

Surrey Heath diagrams today;

456015+456008 2N41
456006+456007 2N39
456014+456005 2N50

The other two daytime diagrams were 450, but maybe that is booked?

Booked whilst the 456 refurbishment is ongoing. All daytime services should be 456 Monday-Friday eventually.

I worked 456013 with 455714/455852 today on the 17:13 Kingston Rounder. Was also surprised to see a 455/8 attached to my train.

Nope. There should be just a single 450 over there, 456009+456017 failed at Frimley on 2N26 with door & electrical issues.

Spotted 5917 the other day fresh from overhaul, repaint and PRM-TSI mods at Bournemouth. AFAIK it's the first 455/9 to be treated.

I do like the new SWT network route maps, detailing the stations which have short platforms where "trains regularly call which can't open all available doors" (or words to that effect), highlighting the likes of those on the Hounslow loop, towards Weybridge from Virginia Water, Andover [?], Bentley & Datchet

They work well on the Ascot - Guildford series I found

The online line got platform lengthening shows that Clapham Junction is only partially completed. Does anyone know which platforms remain? I thought they'd all been done.

The last Clapham platform extensions were to the fast lines on the Mainline side. They were completed a while ago now. This is evidenced by the fact that an 8-car 159/158 can now open all doors in Platform 7, rather than only the doors on the front 2 units. The 450 ASDO test train also opens 9 coaches on Platform 7.

With live testing taking place on one diagram at the moment. Seemed to be working OK yesterday. You'll be pleased to know the updated PIS is far less incessant than Southern's system.

At least after a good few years of unnecessary announcements they (SN) no longer tell you that you are in "coach three of four" or whatever once the trains are down to a single unit...

Still too many on board announcements are made, not just by SN, but by most of them, that's why passengers switch off and "Don't hear" important announcements regarding station calls & alterations to their train.

I hadn't noticed. Must look again when I'm next there. Didn't think the fast lines would get any extensions at this stage as I doubt it will lead to any extra trains until the fish platform is built. However perhaps it still helps over all when trains are lengthened.
ADSO on SWT commences October 4 BTW.
Interesting. That's really welcomed. Now passengers will be able to join 9 coaches of a 10 car train at Clapham Junction and not just front 5. Also at Fratton, passengers of a 10 car train will be able to board some carriages under the canopy rather than only the ones not under the canopy.

I actually like being told which carriage I'm on as it helps me decide if I'm in the right place nearest the stairs at the station I'm exiting.

Of course currently South West Trains don't tell you anything, expect when the guard makes manual announcements for those in the wrong section of the train.

When the ten car project work was first being 'designed', SWT were quite insistent that given the high likelihood of the ten car 455/456 trains being diverted onto the up main fast during day to day perturbations that Platform 7 would also have to be lengthened, as those 10 car trains do not have SDO.

There was some correspondence about it in the Network Change area of NR's website. During 2011 and early Jan 2012 SWT had rejected the network change, and in mid Feb 2012 accepted it on the basis that:

We acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 14 February 2012 and your commitment within that letter to complete a GRIP 1-3 survey in a timely manner to determine the cost and feasibility of extending platform 7 at Clapham Junction for 10-car use and when the most efficient time would be to undertake these works (e.g. as a stand alone project or as part of the Waterloo upgrade).

10-car 455/456 formations have already called at Clapham Junction Platform 7 too, over the May bank holiday when all services on the Mainline side were using the fast lines at Clapham Junction.

With the updated PIS the coach number is the default message displayed on the interior screens when no other infornation is being provided.

The last bit is good. Can't remember what did over May bank holiday but it didn't involve travelling to Clapham Junction.

Probably a sensible decision! There was a severely reduced service, with only the Windsor Lines open Clapham-Waterloo. Hence 10-car 455/456 formations were used on Waterloo-Woking stoppers.

Out of interest. How would trains get from platform 7 at Clapham Junction to the Windsor lines? Is there a connection or was platform 7 used to terminate trains?

There are crossovers allowing access from the Fast Lines at Clapham Junction to the Windsor Lines through to Waterloo.

Only at Queenstown Road though and via single lead junction, however that single lead junction can take you onto both up Windsor & Windsor reversible lines.

When I went past Wimbledon last night at about 1945, one carriage of a 456 was just arriving on the back of a low loader.

Indeed... had a message from the startled other half on Friday eve saying two red SWT carriages were going past our front door!

Could someone write a list of all the Class 456's and show which ones are in service, are being tested, ones which are still southern colours and one being converted. Like the guys do on the class 458 forum.
