Didn't Bournemouth have a new paint shop installed some time ago? Could be used for this? (Assuming they could do whatever else is required...)

The Bournemouth Depot Paint Shop should be currently in use in the repainting of the 455 Fleet - iirc that's what it's original intention was for.
Bournemouth is doing a full refurbishment of the 455 fleet (excluding traction equipment) which includes the final few DDA mods (stuff like improved door alarms) as well as the full repaint in the new paint shop.
SSW will be undertaking the C6 overhaul at their Bournemouth facility. The total project cost is circa £23m and the base scope includes a full exterior repaint in two-pack paint, a major overhaul of the passenger and crew door systems and a heavy clean of the interior. In addition Porterbrook are extending the scope to include any outstanding work needed to make the Class 455 units PRM TSI compliant, ahead of the 2020 deadline.
The vehicles are already largely compliant due to previous modifications and refurbishment work but the additional work required for PRM TSI compliance is as follows:
Fitment of compliant external door sounders
Internal door handles will be changed to a compliant design
Call for aid button will be fitted at both wheelchair positions
Wheelchair ramps will be provided.

The first few sets have returned without the DDA modifications and will have to go back at a later date to have them retrofitted, it is still part of the programme though.
Shouldn't be too long. There are have been 8 456 units on the WIM side of Wimbledon Park Depot for around a week now.
Only 12 went to Wolverton, the rest went to SWT at Wimbledon Depot.
They start entering service next week, according to the SWT webchat. Presumably the four Ascot-Guildford shuttles first.
Not forgetting of course that recently the 456s got cleared for the Lymington branch not that they see use down there of course.....
Really? If they've been cleared (ie the paperwork has been filed), then perhaps what most (sensible) people have been saying regarding their use there (crews not trained, too far from what will be there home depot) will turn out to not be barriers? Because there's no chance that SWT would bother adding to them to the list of classes cleared if they weren't considering it; doing paperwork does take time which is money.
Is this why the 1624 Basingstoke to Portsmouth Harbour is now a 450 rather than a 159? I assume other diesel services will be changed too.

One day they will make their mind up what is going to operate that service, since 2006 it has been a 2 coach 170 (from Reading to Brighton, crush loaded from Basingstoke to Fareham), then a 4 coach 450 (from Basingstoke to Portsmouth), then a 6 coach 159 and then a 3 coach 159.![]()
Yes, if you open the large version of the poster photo it even explains that they're still green and says what the plans are for them
