Great picture and 217 is also doing squeaky duck due to the wet track on Thursday! These trains have a lot of personality like the 150s really. :D 217 is my new 001!!!

i travelled from stourbridge to stratford upon avon yesterday.

first thing i noticed roll through the station was a 6 car 172 which filled the whole platform. i didnt see this when they ran the 150s.

first thoughts are nice smooth ride. the pull off is so much better then the old 150s that used to rev there nuts off while moving off.

better seating planning and a toilet do help too.

except the old perverted man that came trying to chat up 17 year old girls on there own and talking about sex toys and what he would do if he was 20 years younger. thanks to the train guard who helped me turf him off. a nice trip indeed

I found the ride quite hard over jointed track, although i don't know if this was because I was sat behind the last bogie.

There is a booked diagram for 2 x 2 cars on 15.54 Wos - New st then 16.49 New st - Hfd. Given the time it was seen it was either late substitute for the 4 car or out vice a 170.

A Chiltern 172/1 made it to Stourbridge yesterday afternoon (about 15:00 I think) on a radio test run. I think it is booked to do another test run to Leamington Spa next week, though dont quote me on that.

GSM-R testing, it went down to Kiddy from Webmley and sat in Stourbridge depot for an hour then ran back to Willesden.

Yeah. I heard the radio tests were unsuccessful (unable to connect to the North Warwick and Snow Hill panels of the West Midlands signalling centre) so another run will probably be needed. Other rumours suggest that they will be used on the Stratford upon Avon services some time in the future.

It went through University @ 11:34 to New Street and returned ECS @ 12:06 back south!

I saw it pass between University and Five Ways (on-board a 323) to Birmingham New Street, then saw returning through Kings Norton and finally back to Birmingham New Street. I'm uploading a video, check my YouTube account!

My 172 this morning was making a tremendous noise sitting idle at stations, the 0647 Worcester - Dorridge. Could hardly hear my music through it.

Chiltern have been running an additional 172-worked service this week. Not sure if it is a temporary or permanent change, but the spare unit that formerly spent all day at Wembley LMD now works the 16.49 1U48 MYB - BAN and the 5H62 18+49 ECS return working vice a 3 car 168. It means that a Marylebone spare driver has to work it as the booked Aylesbury driver doesn't sign 172s.

Now I've posted that, it's back to a 168 today. Ho hum.
