They're not going to be withdrawn yet! There's at least another decade left in them.
It is prorbably that 150002 is awaiting to be taken to Eastleigh if it is offlease, unless it is going to York or Locomotion to join the National Collection??
How many LM 172s are normally in service in any one day ?
I was in the Birmingham area on Friday, in service were 211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217, 219, 220, 332, 335, 336, 337, 338, 339, 340, 342, 343, 344 and 345. (150105+109 were paired throughout the day mainly on Dorridge - Stourbridge services)
I presume the 1634 Worcester Shrub Hill - Dorridge is part of a peak hour only diagram as this was the only time I saw 344 working.
Diverted away from its' usual route presumably? I didn't think that the Freightliner MGR coal workings usually operated via the Snow Hill lines.Looks like someone made a boo boo, 6Z70 Portbury to Rugeley came to a stand on Old Hill as it was overweight and no banking engine, nothing over 1100-1200 tonnes gets up there without a shove !!
I'm fairly sure that that should go via the North and West normally, I guess some sort of engineering works stopped that?
As for 172s, is 172103 actually working with Chiltern? Got 101, 102 and 104 on Wembley depot on Saturday, and since they don't work weekends I expected I'd see 172103. Alas, no. It might well have been inside the shed, no idea, but thought I'd ask anyway.

As for 172s, is 172103 actually working with Chiltern?

Can't walk through from 153 to 172. Believe the gangways on 172s works within class only.

Well that's just a bit strange.
You would think that Bombardier would have made the corridor connections on class 172s compatible with those on Sprinters, given that there's a fair chance that any potential future build of 172s for other areas would be working alongside Sprinter classes, and that the Snow Hill lines do have need of 172s working with 153s.
