Train staff can open a toilet from the outside even if it is a proper lock. Most toilet locks on trains have a whole for a t key on the other side.

The problem with that 'lever' is that it's still operating a switch, so it's not a physical lock

But the point is people would prefer to feel like they're physically locking it and Not pressing a button if you follow what I mean

I said the same about a new 377/5 on FCC that was just a few weeks old, which also stuck. So, I've highlighted the magic word - Bombardier.

Quality control = Non existent.

And now tax payers are giving up £250k to help Bombardier mount a legal challenge for not getting the Thameslink contract. God help us.

Does the toilet have the 379 style lock that looks like a handle (even if it's still just a switch) to lock? That's a very good idea and gives reassurance that you've definitely locked the door (if it doesn't stick by itself).

I know. That was why I said it was a good idea (as I did about the 379s) - even if not quite as secure a lock as some people might expect!

172215 now completed its running in and checks meaning 3 2car sets available for service.

The 2 usual diagrams. The was another in today but not sure if it was as a replacement due to a poorly 150 or weather it was to allow decommitioning/prep for hand over (did see a 150/2 car on its own near the factory at tyseley)

The extra did include the 09.27 from Snow Hill to Stratford. (not sure if this had come all the way from Stourbridge (08.55 dep)

172339 was in service today forming the 16:07 Worcester Fgt St - Whitlocks End. There were 2 172/2s and 2 172/3s at Worcester LMD at 14:30.

How many 172 diagrams are in use daily now anyways?? last week i heard it was 9, but if 5 150s went to Northern Saturday, and 2 are due to move to Great Western tonight, surely that must mean theres at least 16 in use a day??

My morning commute is still a 150+153 combo, the evening is a 172 but sometimes a 150 if i miss it. I've seen lots of 150s still out and about, annoying commuters being teased at the sight of a 172 on the opposite platform.

Yep, that was the exact service I got, the 16:07. I wonder why it was only 2 carriages. It did say though that the 16:34 to Dorridge would have an extra carriage - it didn't.

172217 was the spare at Snow Hill yesterday. The 172/3 had an issue so it had to be swapped. Better the 2 car than no train at all!

I got a nice look inside the back cab of a 172 on a train yesterday. I won't say where or what time to protect the guard.

I got to the train just as the doors shut and heard him saying "gotta jump on before the doors shut" as the doors snapped shut. I was a bit miffed but resigned to waiting for my next train and I smiled at him and said "never mind. There's another one soon" to which he replied "jump in here if you like!".

What a nice chap it was nice to get onto a train through a new cab. Would have loved to spend my journey in there and have a look around.

Had two 172s yesterday, 172345 and 342. Nowhere near as poor a ride as on 338 and 341, but still not rateable!

I havent yet been on one of London Midlands 172s - only LOROLS, But i can hazzard a guess that the ride quality issuses are down to the skateboard like Bombardier Eco Flexx bogies?!

well expect to be using one or 2 at the WMDR meet on thurs so will report. Have no real issues with there other turbo/electrostar products as far as ride goes so will be interesting

All sorts. At least this time I wasn't bombarded with rattling panels all over the place and the seats I sat on were not *quite* as bad as before.

Went on one today. The interior is nice, but the vibrations when it changes gear are bad. Not on about panels, just the vibrations that go through you. In that respect it was worse than the voyager I got this morning!

have also bashed several today, agree guear change is differen and hate the seats but they seam like good units otherwise

The seats aren't exactly designed to be comfortable though, it's not intercity stock, it's for commuter services.

I have had 6 now. The vibrations thing I haven't found to be too bad. A few have when idling but once moving seemed fine. The seats I find comfortable to be honest and as most of my journeys have been Moor St - Warwick and vice versa I have had 45 mins or so on them. They do seem to make some funny noises when changing gear but am used to them now. They do seem to be a bit light footed in damp conditions though
