Are there any plans for extra tracks to be installed in-between Salford Crescent and Salford Central in future years to allow for improved express service patterns that may well ensue? In my youthful days in the early 1950's, there were quite a number of running lines in that particular area.
None that I am aware of; it would require wholesale reconstruction of Salford Crescent station to do it (I have previously investigated this, would you believe).
That said, if you watch closely you might notice that the OLE structures on the East side of Crescent station all look a bit far away from the track, as if someone was leaving space for a third platform ...
Also, the TfGM scheme at Central appears (currently) to have five operational platform faces.
