Presumably that should read Glasgow C - Stranraer?1A27 11.35 Glasgow C - Carlisle 47234
Thanks, my scruffy notebook actually says Stranraer, and the headcode should have alerted me to my error, so apologies for the mistranscription from notebook to thread. Corrected now.Presumably that should read Glasgow C - Stranraer?
I was also on 1E66 as far as Peterborough, and then boarded 1N13 as you were baling off. See post 1,188 upthread...Saturday 5th July 1986
No messing about rushing around the country today, I have a new 47 out and it's very convenient.

If I remember correctly it was something like an hour's connection at Cheltenham as well, so fairly safe...At least it was largely downhill

I had 208 before Invergowrie - about a week before - and it felt mighty creepy when news started to filter through to the office in Glasgow that fateful morning in the Autumn of 1979.Oh not you as well!
Did you ever get 208 before Invergowrie though??![]()
It was a really shocking event on a bit of line we all knew really well, and it was a DE driver and second man that were tragically killed.....the latter was just a young lad. I used to get a weird feeling seeing 25083 afterwards as well....which was the loco that had expired that it ran into the back of at 70mph.I had 208 before Invergowrie - about a week before - and it felt mighty creepy when news started to filter through to the office in Glasgow that fateful morning in the Autumn of 1979.

I can't help wondering if you two would recognise each other if you met today......Once again we were on the same train, this time 40082 failing at Little Bytham.

I went to Norwich with a 40 a few times that year (40080 and 40172 and I think another one but my moves books are mostly non-existent from that year, I'm going on photographs!) but that day I think I was cash challenged and had 40195 to Sheffield and then went back to the Midlands for ... something or otherSee post #1220.
