I posted about my class 74 haulage on 03/09/1977 some time ago in this thread. However, I neglected to post a jaunt from Plymouth to Salisbury and return in 1973. To correct this ommission
Saturday 03 September 1973
D1053 Western Patriarch LA 1A45 0635 Penzance to London Paddington (Plymouth to Exeter Saint Davids)
6508 EH 1O10 1010 Exeter Saint Davids to London Waterloo (Exeter Saint Davids to Salisbury)
6540 EH 1V13 1300 London Waterloo to Exeter Saint Davids (Salisbury to Exeter Saint Davids)
D1040 Western Queen LA 1B19 London Paddington to Penzance (Exeter Saint Davids to Plymouth)
The joy of 52 miles of Wizzo haulage book ending class 33s on the LSWR West of England line (a far more interesting line than the desert).

On this day in 1978 I went on the LVRC Severn Choppers Express Railtour taking two Toton class 20s (20156 and 20175) from London Paddington to Ebbw Vale (Duffryn Sidings) and Oakdale Colliery via Reading, Basingstoke, Salisbury and Bristol Temple Meads for a photo stop (anyone got a photo of this?) then through the Severn Tunnel to Newport. The return to London Paddington was via Gloucester where the class 20s were replaced by two South Wales 37s (37236 and 37291) for the run via Kemble and Stroud.
03 September 1981 found me on the Isle of Man for a tram ride on the Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway and the Douglas Horse Drawn Tramway. I also managed a ride on the Ramsey Queen's Pier Railway utilising 4wDM Planet 2027/2038 (1937). The Pier became derelict but has since been restored, along with the railway, to use. Not that I can see myself returning there any time soon.
