[Class377/5]

What was 619 running with or was it alone ?. It was parked at Selhurst on Friday as a pair and I feel in my bones it could have been 617.

What I notice rather unpleasantly is the rather firm seat base. I don't mind the back rest being firm but everytime I sit down I land rather heavily on my bottom. Not good for my dodgey back. I would say the seat must be higher and firmer for me to experience what I do.

As posted earlier, it was paired with 618.

They are much firmer than the other 377s but for Metro work they will be fine.

The units could have been moved around so who knows.

There is now only 8 left with at least half of those arriving prior to the new timetable change, they might just get all 26 in service in time for new year.

377612/377613 are out on the East Grinstead turns today. 377614 is working SU907 diagram so will form the 16:17 Victoria-Horsham.

Why limit the units, that would cause chaos for any stock rotation. Grinstead comes under our metro work and has 85 mph running.

They are designed so that in future they can couple to any other 377, regearing them will only cause problems with this. The 375 and 376 were never design to work together anyway with separate routes.

That's fair comment. It just an observation units destined for metro work are usually geared for 75 mph like the 458/5s.

However maybe 377s on metro work can keep to the timings because they are based on class 455s?

377620+377611 pretty much the last train out as the 1636 to West Croydon.

377618+377605 would have been the 1705 to West Croydon.

377612 and 377613 reported elsewhere on the East Grinstead diagram.

There is a post a few pages back with the diagrams on. They have stuck to this for a few weeks and not expected to change until the 8th with the new timetable.

Diagrams so far based on various peoples posts. They are pretty reliable on the weekdays diagrams. I not aware of a no show except when the whole service is screwed up. I have not checked Saturdays. I have not noticed any other weekdays services. They do rotate about the diagrams from day to day with a pool of more than seven units to play with as well.

My other list helps indicate what has made it into service.

Unit 617 has been reported at Selhurst a few times. But no hint of it being in service yet. Anyone seen it in service ?.

Last one into service so far seems to have been 619 btw at the end of a flurry of three new entrants in five days last week.

Also 615 seems to be refusing to come out of Stewarts Lane into the big wide world judging by how long its been there.

Last Saturday the Brighton diagram was worked by 377/6s, 377618 and 377619 but AFAIK there were no units out on Metro workings.

It looks like the fun thing is that it all seems so unpredictable and random, with everyone trying to predict exactly where they'll be used, and what eventual cascades will be forthcoming across the SN network.

OTOH Siemens seem to have delivered 350 units 401, 402 and 403 in boring numerical order, and everyone knows exactly where they'll be used - so they probably won't generate anything like the same interest...

Its not quite all the some at all. Different body, software etc. Only things that ate actually the same are the cabs really. Its just it looks like the rest of the 377 bar the windows.

It would make more sense if they had a different class number. The main thing they have in common with the rest of the 377s is that they compatible (well er should be). This was discussed up thread, don't let the class number 377 fool you.

So this is really a new train that is based on a 377 but with significant differences. The latest 350s are exactly that - I mean a 350.

Curiously the 387 are the next step but still an Electrostar. So the 379, 377/6 & /7 is a Electrostar 1.5, the 387 are a 1.75 version.

Doesn't help when you launch a product in 2009, fail to get the one major contract you were after so go back to the drawing broad and announced a second version of it in 2013 with the full design work not quite finished. Meet the Aventra, its sorta had orders for 93 units despite its name net being mentioned.

My sightings today (Thu 28/11/2013) so far :-

377620 & 377611 At East Croydon on 09:11 to East Grinstead (SU903+904).
377614(iirc) At East Croydon on 09:17 ex Caterham to Victoria (SU907).
3776(21?) Seen as I passed Selhurst depot level with the shed nearest the West Croydon-Norwood lines. It looked like 621 and fits with what Class377/5 says in post 596.
377617 & 377618 At London bridge on 09:59 ex Crystal Palace (SU905+906).
377613 on its own at Norwood Junction on 18:20 to west Croydon (SU901+902).
As I passed Selhurst depot it looked like what may be 621 was there so I later went back North.
377621 alone At Selhurst Depot at 19:25 on the East side of the East most shed at the North end so nearest-to/alongside the West Croydon to Norwood Junction track. Not id-able from Tennison Road bridge as a 456 was in front of it.
377605 I glimpsed approximately in one of the headshunts just South of Norwood junction station. Pretty sure it was 605 but Class377/5s post 599 now makes me wonder where 615 was !.

I then lost my will to live !.

I have updated my list.

That's 13 in use, 1 at Selhurst so about to be used if not already, 5 at Stewarts lane (on test ?) and 7 yet to be delivered.

I am not sure how long Horsham will have 2 off the 10 car units berthing overnight as one of them should have berthed at Dorking but due to the sidings not being ready they are going to keep it in one of the new branch sidings they have just refurbished.
This will then go ECS to Dorking in the morning around about 06+39 to start there.
