377 603 is in service; had it for haulage on the 11th.

603 is at Derby. 601-603 were held back by Bombardier for testing and will be the last to come. 613 has been in service.

And then there were 9. 377608 came down overnight. Confirmed it got as far as Wembley.

Saw a 10 car 377/6 pass through Herne Hill heading towards Stewarts lane this morning. Started paying attention to late to see what the first unit was but rear unit was 601 (was cold, tired and caffeine free so could be wrong).

Presumably delayed return from an over night trip round Kent as there we lots of problems with SE and FCC services this am?

Is 377601 actually round at the moment? Thought it had gone back to Bombardier.

Had 613 separately.... I'm pretty sure I did have 603; I was standing next to the thing on the platform at London Bridge and walking along the platform next to it before getting on it.

I'll check my notes tonight for which time train it was working and with which other unit.

Is it possible 603 has been down but gone back like 601 did?

Edited: I have 603 + 605 noted at 17.05 off London Bridge on 11th November; walked the platform before departure at London Bridge so fairly sure it was not 613; is it too late to check the working on TOPS / TRUST / GEMINI / whatever after ten days?

My own sightings today Wednesday 20/11/2013 :-
377605 on 14:52 Sutton-Victoria (diag SU907),
377609 & 377614:) on 15:44 East Grinstead-Victoria (diag SU903/904),
377620:) & 377612 on 17:12 WestCroydon-LondonBridge (diag SU905/906),
377611:) & 377607 on 17:42 WestCroydon-LondonBridge (diag SU901/902).

Plenty of rain. Three were running/arriving late 5mins(as usual), 0mins, 6mins and 5 mins respectively.

All makes sense as per my latest update to the list.

Oh and I noticed that West Croydon Platform indicator says 10 car. Forgot to check East Croydon platform 4.

The Southern PIS screens all seem to be accurately displaying the length of the 377/6s from what I've seen. The SWT screens at Clapham Junction because the train lengths seemed to be based on what services were booked for a while back. There's quite a few which are now wrong.

Sightings Thursday 21/11/2013 :-
377605 & 377613 at East Croydon on 09:11 to East Grinstead (SU903/904).
377614 at East Croydon on 09:17 ex Caterham (SU907).
377611 & 377607 at London Bridge on 09:59 ex Crystal Palace (SU905/906).
Class 442 went Down through platform 6 at East Croydon unusually.
Could not see any at Selhurst Depot whilst passing.

377612 & 377620 at London Bridge on 18:06 to West Croydon (SU901/902).
The same two 377s were still on SU905/906 in the evening.

Was wondering if 617 or 619 might creep out.

I noticed on 377614 that one end coach had the digit 4 in slightly thinner font than the rest of the number at the front and on one side (could not see other side). Maybe the rest of the unit was the same.

I noticed that on the London Bridge to West Croydon service that the driver or guard gave warnings of TWO station with 8-car platforms. No automated announcements. So I guess the other stations are now 10-car ?.

A posting on ukmodernemu suggests that 377605 worked with 377607 on the next day, Tuesday 12 November.

The platform extensions between London Bridge and West Croydon via Forest Hill were completed for December 2012. There are still some platforms were SDO is in use, and the automatic announcements normally reflect that.

Sightings Thursday 21/11/2013 :-
377605 & 377613 at East Croydon on 09:11 to East Grinstead (SU903/904).
377614 at East Croydon on 09:17 ex Caterham (SU907).

Thank you for your observations. I picked up 377614 on the 2112 from Tattenham Corner and 377605 on the 2144 from Sanderstead thanks to a one minute delay and quick transfer from Purley Oaks and think I am up to date with riding the units in service (604-7/9/11-4/8/20).

I note that 614 didn't have antimacassers in the first class area but did have window stickers.

The problem there is that I had 607 on a separate diagram on the same evening, the 11th... The pairings seem to be changing daily now.

Diagrams don't have to be the adhered 100%. The units are swapping around and I've seen one be put on three different diagrams during one day.

I have noticed the pairings do change daily. Not necessarily all of them though and I have not proved they change during the day (that SU901/902 vice SU905/906 possibility).

Diagram .- Wed 20/11/2013
-- - - - - - - - vs Thu 21/11/2013
- - - - - - - - - - - - vs Fri 22/11/2013
SU901/2 - 607 vs 612 vs 611
SU901/2 - 611 vs 620 vs 614

SU903/4 - 609 vs 605 vs 607
SU903/4 - 614 vs 613 vs 609

SU905/6 - 612 vs 607 vs 612
SU905/6 - 620 vs 611 vs 620

SU907 - - 605 vs 614 vs 613

First two days comparisons :-
  • Over consecutive days the Two London Bridge pairings have stayed the same but swapped jobs.
  • For the Victoria 2 jobs 614 went from the pair to the loner diagram swapping with 605, 609 came off the pair into sidings/etc replaced by 613.
Second-third days :-
  • The East grinstead diagram(s) gave one unit to the lone diagram 907. The other unit went to sidings/etc. Both same as days 1to2.
  • The London Bridge pairs. One swapped but the other pair gave one unit to the East Grinstead pair but gained the removal from the lone diagram.
  • 605 went out 607 came n.

I have seen that SU905/906 did not change during the day of Thursday 21/11/2013. Unless it changed back !. There is plenty of scope for one change as they end up in Selhurst during the middle of the day.

Bit rushed (23/11/2013) so will have to check my ramblings later.

Yes, but as I had 607 on the 15.40 East Croydon - Victoria it wouldn't have been the one paired with 605 on the 17.05 off London Bridge the same evening ( 11th ); that's what we're trying to establish - whether or not I need to go to Specsavers regarding the 17.05...

377605 worked the Suburban Saturday diagram today, but with the Brighton trains terminating at Haywards Heath again I don't believe there were any mainline 377/6 workings.

I was away last week but I understand from a colleague that the diagram worked by 377605 last Saturday included the 2201 Victoria to Dorking (as they posted to Facebook that they were on a new train with number 70405 and have confirmed that this was the train they caught). It therefore appears that it worked the following diagram out and back from Selhurst rather than the one identified a fortnight earlier.

5E01 05+45 Selhurst Depot to Dorking 06+35
2E01 0657 Dorking to London Victoria 0748
2E10 0801 London Victoria to Dorking 0850
2E17 0858 Dorking to London Victoria 0948
2E26 1001 London Victoria to Dorking 1050
2E33 1058 Dorking to London Victoria 1148
2E42 1201 London Victoria to Dorking 1250
2E49 1258 Dorking to London Victoria 1348
2E58 1401 London Victoria to Dorking 1450
2E65 1458 Dorking to London Victoria 1548
2E74 1601 London Victoria to Dorking 1650
2E81 1658 Dorking to London Victoria 1749
2E90 1801 London Victoria to Dorking 1852
2E97 1858 Dorking to London Victoria 1948
2E06 2001 London Victoria to Dorking 2052
2E15 2058 Dorking to London Victoria 2148
2E22 2201 London Victoria to Dorking 2252
2R27 2300 Dorking to West Croydon 2341
5R27 23+42 West Croydon to London Victoria 00+08
2S06 0037 London Victoria to West Croydon 0113
5R06 01+19 West Croydon to Selhurst Depot 01+45

I note that the ECS working from Selhurst Depot to Brighton that a pair of 377/6s worked on 2 November works tomorrow morning so maybe this is a possibility for 377/6s again tomorrow.

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W77079/2013/11/23/advanced

It was reported last time that it returned to Selhurst empty on the Sunday. If so, maybe this is the working

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W71515/2013/11/24/advanced

Please note that this is purely speculation based on what happened on 2 November and the presence of similar paths to that weekend and no engineering work.

I think the stock always used to come ECS from Selhurst on a Saturday morning even when formed of 3 x Class 377/3s. Fingers crossed there are some 377/6s out today. Can anyone confirm? Many thanks in advance :)

I'm pretty sure I passed them at Gatwick but both doing line speed I can't be 100% sure.

Edit:

377618/619 confirmed as doing Brighton runs.

Your time will come JB!!

I worked the 2123 east grinstead last night and someone has been nice enough to smash an outer pane of glass. Only a few weeks old and being wrecked

Here are my observatons from Friday 22/11/2013. Compare with Class377/5 s list in post 562 which has more in it tbh.

3776xx+377619 at Field sidings viewed from West Croydon to Norwood Junction service at 14:18 iirc.

377606 & 377604 at Stewarts Lane between 15:00 and 16:00 as though arrived from Brixton direction (tail lights and relevent track/siding). No sign of 622 ! (EDIT not 620).

377613 at Victoria on 16:17 to Horsham (SU907).
377609 & 377607 at Victoria on 16:23 to East Grinstead (SU903/904).
377614 & 377611 at London Bridge on 17:05 to West Croydon (SU901/902).
377620 & 377612 at London Bridge on 17:36 to West Croydon (SU905/906).

I will update my earlier post showing the (now) three consecutive days. For me the presence of 619 at Selhurst was the news I proved.

And I will digest JonathonH's post in due course.

I will also check this post later - rushed it as its been a busy day (23/11/2013).

EDIT
Wonder what 619 was with ?. My guess would be 617 - had no time to fish around. It was right up towards Selhurst station so perhaps the end number might have been visible off the country end of the platforms.

377619 still has that new smell to it. (Currently sat on it going through Gatwick as I type this)

Strangely the ride is far better at speed than other 377s but crap at speeds under 30.

What was 619 running with or was it alone ?. It was parked at Selhurst on Friday as a pair and I feel in my bones it could have been 617.

What I notice rather unpleasantly is the rather firm seat base. I don't mind the back rest being firm but everytime I sit down I land rather heavily on my bottom. Not good for my dodgey back. I would say the seat must be higher and firmer for me to experience what I do.
