Looks like the 377/6 are going to visit Horsham as there is a diagram for a single unit that was filled this morning by 377606 until it was withdrawn for a unit issue.

Today actually saw 7x 377/6 booked to work services.

Presumably this was a metro diagram (ie via Epsom / Dorking)?

Yes. 2E76, 1617 Victoria-Horsham and 2E93, 1803 Horsham-Victoria are the services. A 377/6 is now back working on this diagram again this afternoon after the earlier failure, so they should run as a 377/6 this afternoon.

Sticking to that diagram, we should get the first 377/6 to Tattenham Corner tonight as well.

SX = Monday - Friday
SO = Saturday Only

Ok, thanks. When will the other services like trains to Epsom downs commence? And will the 377/6's take over all the E. Grinstead trains or just the 10-car ones?
And I take it SU is sunday?

First Four are SX (Saturdays Excepted).
Other Two are SO (Saturdays Only).
EDIT - Beaten to it even more, you wait 10 minutes and then three replies come along !.

To add. Diagrams 901/902 and 905/906 have reliably produced in the evening in the last few weeks. I am assuming 905/906 turn into the evening runs that are about 30 minutes different to 901/902 on London Bridge to/from West Croydon. 903/904 looks to be the one that started last week. 907 is new !.

I suspect that 907 will get a 908 in December.

I don't know tbh.

Remember that Southern are slowly introducing the fleet. The next few weeks should see this ramp up and things may change.

Yes SU is Sunday Only.

I doubt it, 907 is what was previously a single Class 455 all day, so would be unlikely to go up to 10-car. Most of the workings are away from the main peak in/out of London.

Probably when platform extensions are commissioned to allow 10-car workings. Currently on most Metro routes they are limited to 8-carriage workings, so only a single 5-car 377/6. This limits their use at the moment as most services are currently 8-carriages in the peak, so replacing them with a 377/6 would represent quite a drop in capacity. The platform extensions are due to be commissioned by December.

The 377/6s aren't intended for East Grinstead work, I doubt there will be any more workings on the line, and I wouldn't be surprised if the current East Grinstead diagram reverts to other 377s once the 377/6s can work their intended Metro routes in 10-car formation.

The platform extensions have been opened at all stations on the BML as far as East croydon I believe, and I think they have also been opened as far as Sutton, not sure. So it was quite surprising when the 1522 Sutton to Victoria turned up as a 4-car 377/4 rather than a 5-car 377/6 (note that also this service used to be 8 cars but has recently been downgraded to 4 which is irritating as there aren't as many seats and you can't really get a booth to yourself anymore. I guess I shouldn't complain, at least I get a seat! But I normally travel in the declassified first class anyway as many people don't know its declassified so you usually get a compartment to yourself).

One observation is that all the 377/6 diagrams so far are still all out and back from Selhurst and I guess Southern are trying to find these captive diagrams where there is no coupling and uncoupling. There aren't a lot of this kind of diagram on Southern's operation.

In addition to the platform extensions, what work has been done on siding space. I assume that most of the sidings fit 8 or 12-coach formations. The extra capacity at Selhurst is apparent and there is now a pair of units at Dorking overnight but are all the other locations currently used for stabling metro stock overnight (and during the day) now extended for 10-coach operation. Might this also be a limiting factor in which services are currently suitable.

Yes Selhurst does seem to have gained extra sidings. Obviously there is a rise in the number of coaches allocated not just length of trains/units. Its only 456s leaving (48 coaches) and 26 377/6s arriving (130 coaches).

I also note that the shed nearest to the Norwood Jct-West Croydon lines seems to be getting lengthend by about one coach length judging by the ground works ?. Actually it looks to me as though they have dug a hole suitable for a traverser. The tracks at the Norwood Jct end seem to have been removed - I imagine temporarily but this must be affecting operatons at Selhurst depot ?.

The 'Field Sidings' opened in May & are technically not part of the depot itself. Any train movements in or out must be made with a mainline driver not Shunter driver.

The 'New Shed' is being extended to accommodate 10 car trains. Makes a big restriction on movements as anything going in the shed has to go in from the Selhurst end.

377611 and 377612 both were in service yesterday.

377607 made it to Horsham via Epsom in service yesterday.

I think all the 377/6s I have seen recently, even on the metro routes, had first class stickers. I cannot be sure they had the first class panties over the headrests though on metro, but they surely would not ?.

They still have the First Class antimacassars, I can imagine it's too much effort to keep removing them and replacing them but as with all other 377s when working Metro workings the First Class is declassified.

I have always assumed the panties (antimacassars) are held on with velcro but over the years I have sometimes puzzled why the souvenir hunters have not swiped them :|. They are not on my mind all the time btw ;).

They are, and the ones on the 377/6s also have a piece of elastic round them and the seat too, but it would still be a waste of time IMO for a member of staff to go round removing them or putting them back up as required every night.

It probably would not be a good idea for staff to be seen spending their time removing them and replacing them every night/morning :o.;).
