    MPV at London Waterloo

On my travels this morning I noticed that there was a MPV in platform 1 at Waterloo! Does anyone know what it is doing there?

    Incident at Datchet

Glad to hear that nobody was injured, I hope the guard and driver of the train involved are given suitable care. I could only imagine how shaken up the driver of the train must have been.

Would an independent Scotland change the railway?

With the constant media coverage pointing out Scotland being unable to use Pound Sterling if the yes vote wins, how would this affect the tocs/focs and Network Rail???

    Class 458/5

I'm a little confused by the "extra 20,000 seats" statement.... Currently the 458's have 3+2 seating, the 458/5 has 2+2 seating. I appreciate that there is an extra coach on every unit, however surely this would actually result in there being the same, if not less seats???? It looks very much...

    Alton line resignalling (Overrun)

That was one of my reasons for wanting to visit on Tuesday, the latest on the SWT website is that the testing is still ongoing and they don't seem very sure of the line being re-opened on Saturday...

    Alton line resignalling (Overrun)

From what I understand, the line between Farnham & Alton is now blocked until Saturday at the earliest. Does anyone happen to know when the line will be re-opened?

    Alton line resignalling (Overrun)

No point being made, just stating facts. I'm confused why the line needs to be shut for an extra two whole days if the work has Been going on for some months now. Just another example of poor planning which prevents people from using a service which should be there..

    Alton line resignalling (Overrun)

I was planning on visiting the Mid Hants Railway on Tuesday, looking on the SWT website I see there are no trains running between Farnham & Alton...

    London Waterloo - Track defect

Cheers Monty, I know there was quite a bit of media bashing over those speeds last week. Looks like NR/SWT were very much justified doing what they did!

    London Waterloo - Track defect

I guess that would explain why it can't be fixed today, I am right in thinking there was a heat speed restriction here last week to avoid the rails buckling?

Disruption in the London Waterloo area this morning.

The delays were caused by a partial failure of the TEML41 system which is responsible for the indication and control systems for the signalling between Waterloo & Vauxhall. If you are interested, this website has a good bit of info regarding it...

    Derailment at Andover

    Another class 70 on fire

Following 70018 catching fire at Wallers Ash on the 5th, it looks like 70007 has caught fire near Bramley today!

    Lightning Strikes at Battersea

Unfortunately the signalling equipment cannot be protected against such a sudden and powerful surge of volts and amps. The TP hut at Linford street being struck and set alight was just pure bad luck.

    Signallers tests

Hi Flangmar, I think you just have to retake the test you failed When you say the second part, do you mean the coloured numbers? If so the trick is to do it at a very steady controlled tempo, its not just about how fast you finish the task but making sure you have a nice average time between...

    Consistently late services

It's not a timetable issue, i know from experience there are two up services which use the Hounslow loop in the morning which are delayed due to overcrowding. Dont think SWT are inclined or have any other ways of dealing with this, i think they just accept these trains will always be delayed.

    Network Rail Signallers: Strike Action

Im sure he would be the first person to complain if a train he was on derailed etc, yet he cant seem to understand what the strike is about....
