Train driver dies at Weybridge station

A train driver collapsed and died at Weybridge station this morning.

The driver, thought to be 50 years old, was on the Weybridge to Waterloo service and his death is currently being treated as unexplained.

My thoughts and condolences are with the family, friends & colleagues of the driver.

Train driver found collapsed in cab at station dies

A train driver who was found collapsed in his cab at a railway station in Surrey has died.

British Transport Police (BTP) said his death at Weybridge station was being treated as sudden and unexplained.

A BTP spokesman said the South West Trains service for Waterloo, due to leave at 09:33 GMT, had not been moving at the time the driver was found.

He said: "Officers are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."

A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “BTP officers were called to a platform at Weybridge station on Wednesday, December 14, following a report that a train driver had collapsed.

“Surrey Police officers and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident was reported to BTP at 10.34am. The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and officers are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”

Trains are running with delays.

Twitter user @benfletcherism said: “It's all kicked off at Weybridge station apparently. Helicopters, ambulances, very curious.”

A South West Trains spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time and we will do everything we can to support them."
