A colleague was waiting for this train. I've only heard third-hand, but it seems one of the steps didn't retract at the previous station, extended to its full extent during the run to Bebington, then hit the platform edge with a bit of a clatter and could no longer retract.
Things look to be...
2U03 out as a 4-car again this morning. Looks like the door issue I experienced at Sandhills happened a couple of other times and so they've had to pull the 8-car test beds for now.
I'm on the double unit at the moment as 2O39, but we've just arrived at Sandhills and the rear 4-car doors won't open.
EDIT: Opened after a few minutes.
Similar to the Merseyrail battery units which switch at/just after Fazakerley station on the way to Headbolt Lane, even though the next station (Kirkby) still has third-rail power - it'll likely be a SOP to ensure the switch over isn't forgotten and becomes drilled/second-nature.
The bigger issue is the fact that Ormskirk-Hunts Cross working was supposed to be a "temporary" timetable while drivers trained on SDO, before reverting to normal Southport-Hunts Cross working with 8-cars. On top of this, there are not enough units to bolster a few peak Ormskirk services like...
AP are reporting that two trains have collided north of Copenhagen.

Looks like an 8-car is already getting taken out with a fault. According to RTT 2G07 ran from Ormskirk but terminated at Sandhills, due to a problem with the traction equipment (MD). Listed as 777011 + 777038.
I assume there's a chance they could be split and at least get a 4-car back out...
A unit (or two, not sure if it was an 8-car) didn't have a good time yesterday - seemed to take over an hour to get from Seaforth to Sandhills and back to the depot, caused quite a lot of chaos for the Southport line. Another unit then went down to Central, let pax on, and kicked them off a...
I've noticed the timetables on the train screens are also wrong, or at least they differ from the booked times showing on RTT and station PIS.
I'm on 2O40 and screen times are showing 2 minutes ahead of the booked time. This is having the effect of the train thinking it's late and marking the...
Shame they didn't take the time to oil/grease the footplate between the last two carriages on 007 - unit has been unusually squeaky since just after entering service and it remains so!
Do National Rail ever make plans for the track infrastructure available in the same manner as above? I'd be interested to see if there's anything past a possible resignal, perhaps adding a new turnback?
The only crossover points are at South Parkway and I don't believe (almost certain) the lines are signalled for bi-directional so I'd have to defer to someone who understands the rules to know if a single DMU set running back and forth up that line would be allowed. Add to this the closure time...

Liverpool Baltic is due to be build on the site of the old St. James station. Given the station is in a cutting, it would appear that work will be extensive, with a lengthy closure of the whole line between Central and...
They could do with finalising these works and get them announced. There'll be a lot of disgruntled people if they're left to fend for themselves at short notice, or be stuck with a RRB for the best part of a year.
EDIT: I've opened a dedicated thread under Infrastructure...
