Comparison of TOCs refusing to pay Delay Repay claims vs persuing fare evaders

My last delay repay payment was 40p. To those who'd say that's a waste of time, and my time is worth more than that, I'd say phooey. I claimed during time I was not working, and not being paid anything. That would have been the case if I'd claimed or taken the time to make a cup of tea instead...

TfW new service between Bristol and Cardiff

Except when the 197 that should have run it is sat broken in a siding in Chester instead.

How can the Stranraer line be made more useful/less useless?

That they're notorious dumps. I don't see why a new, err, new town at IBM would be any different. If you're going to live in a dump and commute to Glasgow you may as well live in one of Glasgow's own dumps and save a bit of time. Also I'd point out that a large amount of people consider Milton...

    Northern fake "Compulsory Reservations" Trial

"Reservations compulsory" on a network which, umm, doesn't offer seat reservations. The railway really is a thing of beauty.

How can the Stranraer line be made more useful/less useless?

I'm going to guess you've never been to Cumbernauld or Irvine!

Cross-country overcrowding: what could be done?

Mixed length fleets cause problems on at least these operators: Avanti LNER GWR TFW Northern as well as the current XC fleet, so I never understand when mixed length fleets are suggested.

Liverpool to Llandudno TfW 2 car trains on bank holiday

It isn't. It's a bit of a common myth on here that the only people going to/from Llandudno are from Liverpool. Llandudno's the main town in North Wales, the trains will be busy regardless of whether they go to Manchester or Liverpool. We were assured years ago that the reduced capacity of 197s...

Cross-country overcrowding: what could be done?

Splitting and joining trains on a network which is likely to always struggle with punctuality just from its distances and interactions with other more self contained networks seems like something to be avoided.

As we expected: Remaining eight 221s for XC

Oh, you'd want them to be just handed over "in their current state". There was absolutely nothing wrong with the internal state of Avanti's 221s, far from it.

Delayed booked train (Advance) *could have* missed connection but allowed on earlier train, subsequently delayed on 2nd operator, delay repay?

Multiple people have now explained how this works, and have suggested stopping overthinking this. TFW will pay you, GWR won't. Quite.

TfW new service between Bristol and Cardiff

It's just handy that TFW are overflowing with spare units to start new services with. Oh.

As we expected: Remaining eight 221s for XC

"We won't run them singly" always turns out not to be the case.

Interrail - Staff denied access to platform, then tried to throw us off train!

There is no such thing as an off peak train. I imagine you know that.

Delayed booked train (Advance) *could have* missed connection but allowed on earlier train, subsequently delayed on 2nd operator, delay repay?

Your initial TFW train was over an hour late. I would recommend stopping overthinking this and just submitting the claim on their website. They'll probably give you the whole fare back.

Delayed booked train (Advance) *could have* missed connection but allowed on earlier train, subsequently delayed on 2nd operator, delay repay?

I really don't understand why there's a tendency on this forum to overthink delay repay. In this case I would expect just submitting the TFW form would result in a complete refund.

Delayed booked train (Advance) *could have* missed connection but allowed on earlier train, subsequently delayed on 2nd operator, delay repay?

Nobody will be looking at platform numbers. All that's happening is the earliest time to your destination, honouring MCTs at any change, is being worked out and compared to the scheduled time. That's from computer data which has no knowledge of station layouts nor opinion on what a passenger...

Delay Repay after break of journey

It'd be the best part of £4, wouldn't it? Not a fortune, but I've certainly claimed for far less before now.

Thameslink: "formed of" Vs "which has"

What was wrong with "this train terminates here, all change please"?

Express coach proposed for north to south Wales link

Few people from Bangor go for a night out in Bangor, let alone from Aberystwyth! That'll be a non-existent market, sadly.

I had to crawl on my hands and knees to get off train, says disabled woman

I wonder if the railway is like this as a whole, or if the staff who post on forums are unrepresentative. Because I've never (in the civil service, local government and the private sector) felt the need to defend my employer or industry. All companies and organisations mess up.
