OO i wonder, can battery units be recharged using the overhead lines?. then again i dunno if there is any spare units to do that? may haps?
modular engines/batteries sound handy and a way forward :)
I was thinking maybe of Building a Corner at Dunfermilne but i being a dum forgot to look into how feasable it'd be to build a passthrough for dunfermilne!.
I just remember how much trouble the dam bursting in linlithgow caused Forth valley, so i thought of this as a possible solution.
Looks...
I do have a ping for ..insensible ideas 8'D.
well!, Lets throw out the downsized MTU engine,
Could 385's have Potential with Batteries/Hydrogen instead?. Also im curious say if Battery tech comes along okay over the next while, how easy would it be to upgrade by simply swapping out batteries...
It'll take a while still for scotland to do a full electrification, and the 156/158/170 sets are aging, and i just wonder then when the time is right, the Bi Modes can be converted into extra 385's. just i guess the bi modes would be a good stopgap :)
Heyo!, sorry for my thread spam!, but i had another idea.
Is it feasable at all to Potentially create a Bi Mode 385?, I'm thinking of it as a sort of Baby 800.
Could a downscaled version of the MTU Engine in the class 802 Be used? or a new Hydrogen Unit be developed
Class '384'?
I could see...
also sorry if this is necroing as the old thread is no longer able to be replied to + i made a mess up :').

Heyo!, sorry if its a reborn of a old thread, but im interested to see since its been a while what the current feeling is towards a possible central scotland route would be of this?

So i wonder if theres any feasability towards a route that would be kind of like this
Edinburgh Waverley -...
Hmmm
How about extending the Milngavie - Cumbernauld Service to stop at Grangemouth?. Or any service that connects glasgow that terminates at Cumbernauld. With the extended service you could maybe add on Bonnybridge.
Or a new service that Connects Grangemouth - Glasgow, And Glasgow Suburbs...
Just part of me feels like First bus can get away with such shenanigans because there isn't another competitor, basically having a monopoly on an area means they can gouge it as much as they wish
having Lived in an area with only first bus operation, we badly need a competitor/council owned bus service for at least competition, as first bus has been doing poorer and poorer services because it mainly feels like they can (parking up buses with passengers inside for 10 mins while the bus is...
heyo Sorry about my another really bad idea! but one i thought of
Considering issues with Electrifying the forth rail bridge. And the class 158 and 170 having done their time on scotrail, Would it maybe be a bad idea to replace scotrails 158 and 170's with new FLIRTS (755's) allowing ethier for...
Whats a grid feeder :'D . im a big noob when it comes to these things
also if its electrified it should be easy for a 385? , Maybe a good idea to get those extra 385's on Order :)
also i maybe will learn, they look so good on paper though! xD
Oooo i like this :> imma steal yo ideas cause im a noob
and i dont know rails very well sorry 8'D
maybe like a
1tph Glasgow Queen Street - Bishopbriggs - Lenzie - Croy - Larbert - Stirling - Alloa - Kincardine - Culross - Inverkeithing - Edinburgh Gateway - Haymarket - Edinburgh Waverley...
Heyo!, So with more talk around Grangemouth opening up as a train station, And the Talgo factory being talked about, is there potentially a case for Opening up the Kincardine line and linking grangemouth and dunfermilne with a rail service between the two, maybe a so called forth valley stopper...
Heyo!, i'm wondering. if any of the MK2 MK3 sleeper stock that is being sold could maybe be used as a once on occasion sleeper service?, just thinking of maybe an inverness to london christmas eve sleeper maybe using 37's and 47's, Might even be handy for people wanting to travel at night to...
Falkirk grahamston, not sure about falkirk high. use high if you can.
Good for freight captures
but in a nasty and grim 'little hicktown full of just nasty miserable people (specially the chavs) though the staff at the station are pretty cool. , advisable if you just catch a train there...
This was probably a rare-ish working, but i remember taking a 158 + 170 to Glasgow queen street, and it was awesome, sometimes i see the train combo still doing workings but is probably rare as heck now
they do look fun, But i do wonder if theres any lines or places that could use like, Single carriage trains maybe with more performance than 153's, or take any existing DMU and turn some into single carriage trains.
(i am very ignorant so forgive me :') )
Maybe the "Jigsaw" train could be...
I'd freaking LOVE to see it do the Stirling - London services with the MK4 + DVT Coaches but thats kinda fantasy, Or it could be used for ECS Moves in Caledonian sleeper livery
:D GC Would be awesome too, Maybe for the blackpool services i think that are running there.
odd question, Are they...
