https://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/new...lway-station-grangemouth-key-priority-1385418 .

So If grangemouth station goes ahead, with the assumption they will use the freight line, What ideas do you guys have for this? :D

after some More thinking it could be cool to dooooo.

Extend the Dalmuir to Cumbernauld Service onwards to Grangemouth, Thus gives Falkirk/Forth Valley connections to Lanarkshire and Suburban Glasgow.
+
Split the Edinburgh to Glasgow queen street Via Cumbernauld. to include a 1tph service from Grangemouth to Glasgow Queen Street,
[Grangemouth - Falkirk Grahamston - Cumbernauld - Greenfaulds - Gartcosh - Stepps - Robroyston - Springburn - Glasgow Queen Street]
+
Return The Edinburgh To Dunblane Service to stopping at Linlithgow to Polmont, Thanks to the Splitting of the EDI-GLA Via Cumbernauld.

Rolling stock could be the 320's on the Dalmuir And Maybe Order in a 3 Car 385 to do the Grangemouth - Glasgow Queen Street.

Or Maybe making a new route of Milngavie - Grangemouth Service do? Connects Forth valley to Suburban Glasgow and Lanarkshire still :). 1tph i'm maybe thinking.

Eh, if it was going to happen if would have already.

The Grangemouth line faces the wrong way, if you wanted direct services you'd send them to Edinburgh preferentially over Glasgow.

There aren't really any services you could use that easily extend. Five years ago you could have extended the Cumbernaulds, but they've gone.

The Strathclyde Cumbernaulds that go via the low level lines you'd never extend. They're at the limit of a reasonable distance for a suburban journey, the stock wouldn't really do, there isn't enough slack, and there's already provision from the Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk Grahamston services.

Five years ago you could have extended the queen street services, however they've been sent through to Edinburgh. You wouldn't split them now because that service provides more capacity for linlithgow and polmont in peak times from Edinburgh, by moving stops onto quieter trains than Dunblane services.

It also provides direct services from east glasgow and East Dunbartonshire to the forth valley and Edinburgh.

Both those functions are important.

Thirdly, Grangemouth is pretty well served at the moment. It's twenty minutes from polmont or linlithgow or Falkirk Grahamston, all of which provide a better use of capacity by sending services both ways, and better connectivity by having a minimum of 2tph to all of the major destinations in a 50 minute radius.

Grangemouth is a project that could have worked if you'd proposed it five years ago, but today everything has moved on and the window has closed. There isn't the desire for serving Grangemouth town directly when with that capacity you could provide journeys to a much wider range of places.
