A couple of weeks ago I went to one of the most beautiful places on the planet - Austria. I meant to post these the other week but my broadband's been playing silly buggers.
Old electric loco at Saalfelden Depot. Not a good picture - it was about 80 metres away.
Poster of an Austrian...
At every station under privatisation (including new one's built) - that was there under BR?
Mainland rail network and not metro/tram systems etc.
(I'm not talking about the obvious such as rails or sleepers here)
If no one gets it - I'll give the answer when I come back from holiday in...
As of about a month ago we have been forbidden from using the 2 tones of the horn unless we see someone on or about the line.
This means that whenever you see a train pass a whistle-board near a crossing - you should only hear a boring single low tone of the horn and not the familiar double...
Puzzles me. We drive on the left here unless we have bi-directional working and the French do too surprisingly but their Metros run on the right.
The Germans run on the right but in Austria they drive on our side the left(although the driver's controls are on the right), unless they use the...
Saw this on C4 news right after they had a go at SWT for the fare rises :-

Notice the registration and the reaction of the coach driver.
Finally found that leaflet I was on about - SWT's proposals for the West Country printed in 1999/2000. It runs to 10 pages on both sides but I've given you the jist of it.
Why Stagecoach's bid for the new South West Trains franchise will give the West Country the best railway choice into...
Swiss trains are always on time. (Favourite quote from the tabloid press and commuters)
How would they know? Do they monitor the performance tables of Swiss trains the way Tom monitors SWT's
I've seen late Swiss trains and I've only been there a few times.
Our trains have some of...
Found this in an old 1990 Rail Mag'
Proposal for a 159 to replace the 50's
Looks a bit fatter than the ones we have now - same livery as the Pigs originally carried.
Like the 159 1's - we used to be able to see out of the bulkhead door too.
How do you rate the Desiros personally? I can rate rate them from a driver's point of view and it's not all bad.
Good points :-
Comfortable for the majority of drivers.
(Pigs were awful - backache, leg ache)
Get away better in the wet with 8 traction motors.
(Pigs - pathetic. Spin...
I don't know myself - I found it on a website but it didn't say where it is/was.
Anybody know? I thought it looked quite a nice station. Sign of weeds in the track so I presume it at least survived to NR days.

(Can't remember how you get the video to show - ready to play)
If you liked this try :-

I think the best ones are 'Other Songs' on the right hand side particularly 'angry'.
You can't see Thomas because...
Anybody been on the Paris Metro?
Very interesting system. There are a couple of lines where the trains have pneumatic tyres - sound quite different from the others and you get the smell of the rubber in the station too.

Most of them you can see...
Yesterday I a deer at 42m 111chains milepost on the embankment just staring at the tracks.
At Clapham I saw a WCR 47 (I think it was anyway - view not good from a Disastro).
(There was a Channel Tunnel 37 at Clapham the other day with the rings on the side)
Passed an EWS 67 pulling...
Not what you think
Smells associated with stations - some no longer there.
Poole always used to smell of dog food (Millers Pies factory )
Branksome - Chip shop. Always makes you hungry when you stop there
Hook - Used to have a chocolate factory on the down (Now Tesco's)...
