At every station under privatisation (including new one's built) - that was there under BR?

Mainland rail network and not metro/tram systems etc.

(I'm not talking about the obvious such as rails or sleepers here)

If no one gets it - I'll give the answer when I come back from holiday in a week's time.

Damn you Coxter - got it straight away

Funny isn't it how they survive long after the demise of BR

Aren't the old BR double arrows the official logo of National Rail?

My suggestion on this was going to be moaning passengers.

The BR double arrow sign is a sign of National Rail, and therefore "Rail" on the whole so I guess that's why they're keeping them, as a distinctive way of how to spot railway stations.

Chiltern Railways got in "trouble" for not having the double arrows sign outside Little Kimble station about 3 years ago, so a tiny sign was put up, adjacent to the entrance. This vanished and was replaced by the more traditional sign high up on a pole next to the road a few months later when Chiltern started the project to remove all NSE branding from all stations and to put up new Chiltern signs.
