Arrival checks at Brussels Gare du Midi at the moment?

Hi, has anyone been through Gare du Midi recently to know if the Belgians are doing checks on arrival for vaccination status and the like? The reason I ask is I am planning a trip that would need a Eurostar to ICE connection and wondered if the usual 20 minutes XX:05 arrival to XX:25 departure...

Photo of Nightstar destinations on live departure boards

Sorry to resurrect this ancient thread, but I wondered if anyone has the photo mentioned here (or any similar one for that matter) please? uk.railway is long gone from Google News and searching other Usenet archives I don't find one going back that far :'(...

Call to let sleeper trains use the Channel tunnel

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/call-to-let-sleeper-trains-use-channel-tunnel-mt7sv0bdk Anyone have more details about this. The same reporter has in the past twice claimed DB were going to start London services, so I take what he writes with a pinch of salt. I cannot find anything...

    New ÖBB Nightjet coaches

Here is an interesting article on the new rolling stock for ÖBB due to enter service in 2022. The individual sleeping pods look great for solo travellers (although they can have a door slid back to join two at the head end of the bed)...

Belgian Desiro ML units in UK

I just came through Dollands Moor and I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I saw a rake of Belgian Desiro ML unit(s) with a Belgian loco on the front parked in the sidings at the North end of the site. Any idea what that is about?

    Via Rail Canada Ocean Sleeper

Does anyone know if single passengers on the Ocean sleeper train have to share a double compartment with another traveller or by booking a double room do you get it to yourself?

    Excelsior Sleepers in Italy

Does anyone know the status of Excelsior sleepers on domestic Italian services? I have seen one source that says they run on the Rome - Sicily route and another that says they were scrapped a few years ago. If they do still exist, do they run on any other routes?

High-speed train crashes into bridge, killing seven, in Turkey

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/12/13/europe/turkey-train-crash-intl/index.html From what I read elsewhere, the train hit a locomotive that was "checking tracks around the station". It looks like a Velaro similar to Eurostar and DB's latest Velaro D generation. Condolences to the victims. Edit...

    "5 New TGV Lines"

Missed this story last month, but it looks like the French government has announced business as usual for 5 LGV projects which were previously under review. https://www.thelocal.fr/20180912/french-government-gives-green-light-to-five-new-high-speed-tgv-lines

DB London - Frankfurt service back on again (?)

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/london-to-frankfurt-express-trains-by-2020-0tqhstpl9 I was looking forward to this starting in 2013 and if it starts in 2023 - better late than never. Be nice if they could get the journey time down to 4.5 hours though. Also now spawned a few copycat...

    Eurostar on Monday Night

On Monday night I had the dubious pleasure of travelling back from Paris by Eurostar. I'd already received an SMS in the morning telling customers to check in 1 hour early and luckily I'd been unable to book a train that was <1 hour from my incoming connection. However, turning up 1 hour...

Eurostar / SNCF hop on the next train - 2 pax from different origin points

A question regarding CIV / Railteam "hop on the next train" promise on delays... Passenger 1 is heading to Paris from London by Eurostar. Passenger 2 is heading to Paris from Holland by Thalys. Passengers 1 & 2 are then heading south from Paris by TGV on a joint booking with the same...

Sub 30 minutes change in Brussels

A quick question: If one deliberately books a 20 minute change in Brussels from Thalys onto the Eurostar, making use of either a Business Premier ticket or Carte Blanche, will Eurostar honour the Railteam hop on the next train promise if it is late?

Split trains in the Channel Tunnel: NoL now viable?

As Deutsche Bahn have set the precedent with getting permission to run shorter, multiple units through the Channel Tunnel, how about the same for British operators? After all, if the model for splitting trains at Brussels to continue on 4.5 hour journeys has merit, then about about the same at...

'Nightstar' on Dan Snow's History of Railways

Pretty sure those were the 'Nightstar' carriages that Dan was sitting in during the Canadian section of the second programme. I think they call it the Renaissance service over there. Pretty nice interior :(
