Does anyone know if single passengers on the Ocean sleeper train have to share a double compartment with another traveller or by booking a double room do you get it to yourself?
I went on it about 10 years ago - and the only budd car in the consist was the dome car / bullet ended car. That had a bert in it, used the crew member who staffed it - she gave us a look at the room as we expressed interest in the car. When I've taken the Ocean I didn't share.. that was a few years ago. I'm not sure if the Ocean uses the old Budd cars, but if it does you can get single person rooms where the seat converts into the bed. They are nice and comfy and even I can manage to (just) fit at 6'4"
In sleeper plus class you can select a Cabin for 1 (your meals are included in this too)
If you *want* to share, you can select the Berths, these are like bunk beds with curtains across.
My Advice, don't select any of the renaissance cars or rooms as they are no where near as comfortable as the old Budds
If you book a double to yourself I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure you're paying for the cabin not the bed
