The 1148 Penzance-Exeter has come to a stand near the former Aller Junction near Newton Abbot. Flames and smoke have been seen from one of the bogies and the traincrew using extinguishers to put out the flame before the fire brigade arrived. A friend has just sent some photos.

I’ve not seen this reported elsewhere on the forum, but sad news that a fire has destroyed Maam Cross Station Cabin. The box is on the Connemara Railway in Ireland and was only rebuilt a few years ago. Here’s a photo from the Irish Mirror showing the building well ablaze.

About 25 years ago I purchased a flamecut cab side numberplate from 31258 for £5. The loco was renumbered to 31434 in 1984. Why would an un-renumbered cab side still exist so long after re-numbering?
