Television Adverts You Like.....

As opposed to the annoying advert thread I thought i would start one about adverts you like.

I really like the current Battersea Make a Will advert featuring Leo the cat and his keeper. It has quite a touching storyline and gentle. Adverts do not have to be in your face to be effective.

I hadn't seen it before, but there's one (The Bond) that keeps appearing during Youtube videos. It's quite moving, but irritating at the same time when you consider that it's over three minutes long.

The dog, although long is still affective.
I do feel this might be a limited thread as most adverts are designed to annoy.

I don't know - some adverts can be quite memorable in a good way.

Specsavers have done quite a few good ads over the years. This one made me chuckle when I first saw it:

(Ad shows a cat jumping behind a glass good and it only becomes apparent when the camera zooms out and shows that the door has been installed with the cat-flap at the top)

And this is an absolute classic:

I rather liked the one that was done live in, I think, Spain and involved parachutists spelling the word Honda as they free fell - I think most people tuned in to see if one parachute would fail though

Others I like are the Yorkshire Tea ads from the 90s

Yes l've noticed the return of this ad. Maybe they thought it was long enough now since it was last shown to get away with showing it again, or their advertising budget has been cut which is not very likely.
I do like his ( l presume) girlfriend though!

That line is about it’s only redeeming feature - especially given the nosedive in quality, cleanliness and stock availability that my local Sainsbury’s has experienced.

This goes to show that good adverts last the course. Simple and effective. The Guinness advert with the man dancing to Perez Prado has the same effect. I liked it so much I bought the Guaglione single.

That Bird's Eye advert was quite memorable.

There were a few different ads for Knorr stock cubes, but this is the one I remember most:

I really ought to have a look through some of our old VHS tapes and see if there are any gems hiding there.

This is a full version, I dont think the 'Pool' gag ever made it to a UK ad, which I thought was hilarious.

Sony Bravia: Paint (2006) - Directed by Jonathan Glazer (who had previously directed a few high profile Guinness ads in the late 90s/early 2000s)

Going back a few years (well, nearly 20 lol) for this one, a favourite for as long as I can remember.

If only all consumer electronic TV adverts were half as creative and visually spectactular as this one was. Helps that this was filmed somewhat locally to me: in the old Prospecthill Circus estate in Toryglen in Glasgow's South Side, more or less directly across the WCML from Polmadie Depot.

The new Pip & Nut peanut butter advert. No daft music, dancing, singing or catchphrases. A very simple advert with some background music and an AI red Squirrel.

I like the current Trevago advert with the three men on inflatables in a pool. The way Benny replies “Oh, you have to check Trevago” makes me smile.

I'm a lifelong dog lover. Especially big, daft, mucky, characterful hounds - rather than those small yappy, neurotic, poodle-derived 'fur babies' so popular in Boomer and Millennial households these days.

So it was only natural that I enjoy this TV commercial themed "Dogs Are Gonna Dog" and peddling a canine flea & worm treatment.

Basically starts with the loveable family pet with his clean & tidy mum in a clean & tidy kitchen. Then he's off outside - to a musical chant of "Dog! Dog! Dog!" - to indulge in a series of dirty doggy activities (scavenging in an overturned dustbin, digging a hole then sitting in it, finding a discarded dirty old shoe and running around with it in his mouth - all the good stuff). Finally, the dog is back home in the garden licking the young child's face.

The ad is broadcast in Australia & not sure if this product is advertised & sold in the UK.
