Any over bridge or other structure crossing any line should be built to accommodate W10 clearance (W12 would be better) with clearance to include OHLE. This would make installation of future OHLE easier and cheaper.
I read somewhere there was talk on reinstating the north/west chord just north of Shotton station. This would enable Holyhead to Cardiff services omitting Chester. This would improve journey times on this route.
When trains are running late on the Cambrian line do trains waiting at Shrewsbury cause problems for other services using the station? ( hope this is in the right forum)

One solution to help this not happening again. Would be to extend the loop by 2-3 miles towards Caersws but leave the stop board towards Shrewsbury where it is and back up the stop...
With the cost of electricity so high would network rail benefit from installing wind turbines at stations where there was a regular good wind speed? It could help in keeping costs down.

Does anyone know the loading gauge on the line from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli? From what I can tell is it changes at Newtown or Machynlleth I think it gets tighter from either of these 2 towns. I have not been able to find out if/where the gauge changes. I do know that timber trains...
