Do late running Cambrian trains create congestion at Shrewsbury station?

When trains are running late on the Cambrian line do trains waiting at Shrewsbury cause problems for other services using the station? ( hope this is in the right forum)

They can if the Aberystwyth train is in platform 4 and the delay isn't known about at the time. Platform 4 is the only platform where you can head North towards Crewe, whereas Southbound train can use Platform 4 or 7.
Generally most Aberystwyth services will use Platform 5 or 3 which are a bit more isolated to causing congestion problems.

Aberystwyth arrival has to cross the south route from 4 to get to its berth on 5.
