National Entitlement card travel from Newcastle to Edinburgh

Someone gets free travel with a National Entitlement Card in Scotland, and T&Cs say this means journeys from Berwick-Upon-Tweed north into Scotland are free. Some of the trains from Newcastle to Edinburgh don't stop on the way. Would this just mean they'd have to pay for the ticket from...

LNER on-board upgrade to first class

Passenger travelling Newcastle to Dundee. Get free travel in Scotland with National Entitlement Card (visual impairment). Two questions: - can they pay to upgrade on board as usual, though they won't have paid for a ticket in Scotland? - will it cost £39 for this journey length? Thanks.

Changing cross country seat reservation; seatfrog booking

I've got a cross country journey coming up. I upgraded to 1st through seatfrog. Is there a way to book a seat reservation/change the reservation I had through seatfrog? I can't see a way to do this

Weekday first on Crosscountry and Avanti West Coast

I've got 4hr-plus train rides with both companies coming up, and booked standard class tickets via this forum. Seatfrog is just over £30 inc fees to upgrade to 1st on Crosscountry and just over £40 on Avanti (buying the upgrade in advance, not bidding). Are there likely to be any better options...

GWR 1st class upgrade price, bath spa to paddington

What would the on-board price for this be, if there's space? GWR's website says it's from £10, but I'd guess that's for shorter journeys

1st class upgrade on LNER, with a 4yo

We're looking to upgrade a LNER journey from kings cross to Edinburgh, either via seatfrog or paying when on board. One of the party is a 4 year old, who can travel without a ticket in standard class. How does it work with seats if we upgrade? Will the 4yo get a seat or have to sit on someone's...

1030 train from Kings Cross to Dundee

There's a 1030 train from Kings Cross to Edinburgh on weekdays. LNER's reservation system lets me reserve a seat on this train and the connecting train in Edinburgh - gets me to Waverley 1508 and there's a 1530 connection to Dundee. However, LNER and other ticketing sites won't sell me a ticket...

Missed connection due to cancellation; LNER saying we have to use 1st class ticket in standard

Missed a connection due to a cancellation. Booked split tickets, but whole journey booked through LNER. LNER is saying we can only use our 1st class advance ticket in standard on the next train (which does have 1st). Is this correct? If not, is there guidance I could refer to when making my...

Missing a prebooked train due to late arrival of previous train? With no ticket for previous train

Passenger is considering booking an advance single for a specific train from Scotland to England. She gets free travel in Scotland die to disability, without needing to buy a ticket, so would only need a ticket for travel in England. However, if her first train journey in Scotland (which she...

Super off peak single London to Dundee validity North of Newcastle

I'm using this standard class, flexible ticket on a weekday. May get off for something to eat in Newcastle or Edinburgh, then finish my journey to Dundee on the same day. Would I be right to think that the ticket won't let me get a train that left London after 1400, but other trains on that line...

Off peak return Dundee to Penrith (N Lakes) - return via Glasgow

I've got the return part of an off peak Dundee to Penrith return. The quickest route is via Haymarket, but I'd like to go via Glasgow instead (to meet family there for a meal). Would the ticket allow that?

Breaking journey from London to Dundee in Edinburgh

I'm looking at getting a super off peak single from Kings Cross to Dundee. I'd like to stop for a couple of hours in Edinburgh. I know the ticket allows me to break my journey, but can I get any train from Waverley to Dundee or does it need to be an off peak train? I might get the 1601 train to...

    Lost disabled Railcard

I've lost a physical disabled Railcard, and travelling too soon to get a replacement. I've got the number and a photo, but know I should have the physical card. Are lner likely to let me travel on a disabled Railcard ticket, or not? And what might they charge me, if not?

Can I get off early on an Advance Single (1st class)?

I'm travelling from Kings Cross to Dundee, with a toddler. I'll get on a direct train, and if all goes well we'll stay on there till Dundee. Does the ticket let me get off early if needs-be, though? Would basically be on the off chance the toddler is kicking off and won't settle (it's by far my...

Changing LNER advance single (1st class) for cheaper ticket

I'm thinking of booking an LNER advance single that doesn't allow refunds for a day I'm probably travelling - first class isn't too much more than standard. If family plans intervene, though, I'll need to change it to a standard class single that's more than £10 cheaper. I know there's a £10...

ASLEF Action Short of Strike impact on LNER

Planning to travel Newcastle to Dundee during the action. Do people have a sense of if the ASOS is likely to cause a lot of disruption on this route? Thanks!

Strikes, and trains between Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow this weekend

From what I can tell, the strikes this weekend should have little impact on trains between Dundee and Glasgow, Glasgow and Edinburgh, and Edinburgh and Dundee this weekend - because Scotrail trains should run much as usual. Have I got this right? Thanks!

Dundee to Edinburgh on October 5 - strike?

I'm hoping to travel on Oct 5. From what I can tell, the ASLEF strike that day should have minimal impact on this route, barring the LNER services. Anything I'm missing? Can book a bus if needs-be, but would prefer a train!

Strikes on Saturday - disruption in Scotland?

I'm thinking of travelling from Dundee to either Edinburgh or Glasgow. It looks like these routes might not be badly affected by the strikes (lots of ScotRail trains) but this is non-essential travel so I can cancel if things will be difficult. What do you think?

1st class ticket - OK to sit in standard?

I'm travelling from Edinburgh to London with my partner. She has a 1st class ticket from Berwick to London (and gets free standard class travel in Scotland). I have a standard class ticket from Edinburgh to London. I asked LNER's assistance team to reserve us seats together in standard class...
