... is that an actual rule?
I had an advance ticket from Coventry yesterday for the 09.26. Relying on catching two buses to get to the station, there was no way I could risk cutting it fine - especially not at that time in the morning.
So I arrived and tried to scan my ticket at 8.50. It was...
... Or am I going mad?
Travelling on the 9.56 Coventry to Nuneaton train, I thought I saw a Deltic flash by in the other direction.
Was this so, and how would I find out? (preferably in advance next time!)
It used to be the case that if you bought an Advance ticket through the Cross Country site then they would allow you to change its date/timings for no fee, and I often did so.
This appears to no longer be the case, as a £10 fee is now been mentioned. Is that so? And when did it change?
I...
My nephew recently travelled from Bristol to a family event in South Wales. He had the choice of being picked up from either Barry or Pontyclun. He opted for Barry and bought the appropriate ticket. His train was delayed arriving at Cardiff Central and as a consequence he missed his Barry...
My son bought a ticket for the above journey yesterday. He knew it involved a replacement bus journey between Nuneaton and Bermuda Park (a small industrial park on the outskirts of Nuneaton) but its timings and slightly cheaper price suited him. Today he finds that the services between Bermuda...
My niece appears to have been sent a notice from Trainline implying there is no Cardiff to Paddington service tomorrow. Surely this is not the case, though looking at her email I can see why she might be panicking!
Everywhere still appears to be selling tickets. Can I put her mind at rest?
Going back many years, Birmingham Airport used to have a viewing gallery to watch the planes from. I'm assuming such facilities are now a thing of the past, so is there any point my taking my young grandson to "see the aeroplanes?"
Got myself a First Class from Oxford to Hereford tomorrow. What can I expect refreshment-wise? Is it a case of of the Cross Country default - you get nowt except a cup of tea unless you ask for it? <(
Hi. My son is going to Nottingham on Monday looking for somewhere to live. I've said I'll drive him up - but I certainly don't fancy driving round Nottingham, so I've said I'll take us to the Park and Ride (Toton Lane, I assume, if coming off the M1.) He'll need to get around and I've always...
Today at Coventry station while using the lift to get to my platform I spotted a ticket on the floor. On examining it I saw it was a recently purchased Anytime Single from Cov to Abergavenney costing thirty-something pounds. It also contained a Reservation slip for the recently departed Avanti...
The problem with having a little bit of knowledge of railway matters means that friends and relatives often ask for advice. Glad to help as far as my knowledge allows - but of course there's no allowing for what they might actually experience!
My young nephew, low-waged, was desirous of...
Is it the day before your 24th birthday or your 25th ?
Also are Trainline offering their discount on 3 year cards? I suspect not.
Thanks for any info. Can't seem to quickly find it myself. Being hassled by a nephew. The perils of being known as a rail enthusiast!
Heard this a long time ago, but recently rediscovered it. It's probably been mentioned here before - but for anybody that's never heard it then they're in for a treat.
The Ballad of John Axon
As it says really. Recently had a 100% claim for a split-ticket journey delayed for over an hour. Should I just claim the ticket prices, or is it acceptable to claim Trainsplit's commission also?
After all, by using a split I have saved the TOC money in this instance.
Off to Hull for a few days next week, courtesy of Northern's £1 fares and one thing I want to do is go across the Humber Bridge.
Anybody know if there are any bus services over it? Or any general tips where to head for, what to do etc?
I made a claim for a slightly convoluted return journey from Bristol to Coventry on 16th August. I arrived at New Street around 40 minutes late (that much is simple enough - though obviously I split at Cheltenham) This delay meant I missed my Coventry connection and the next train got me there...
Just booked my wife Coventry to Bath and Return. Blithely ticked Disabled Railcard of course as she's had one for several years.
Thanks to the many instances on this Forum, it suddenly occurred to me to check it - and sure enough it expired last March.
Should be more careful, you might think...
