It used to be the case that if you bought an Advance ticket through the Cross Country site then they would allow you to change its date/timings for no fee, and I often did so.
This appears to no longer be the case, as a £10 fee is now been mentioned. Is that so? And when did it change?
I believe there were other sites that offered this facility. Do they still exist?
Thanks.
Also, why should having a phone ticket mean that you can't change it? It doesn't make sense. That used to be the criteria for fee-free alteration!

Amending your booking
Yes - date/time of tickets can be changed up until time of departure (except if you have chosen to print your own e-ticket(s) or have chosen for your ticket(s) to be delivered to your mobile phone) subject to the payment up to £10.00 fee per ticket per person and any difference in fares. If you change to a train on which a cheaper fare is available, the difference will not be refunded. Not possible to change the origin or destination.
