Going back many years, Birmingham Airport used to have a viewing gallery to watch the planes from. I'm assuming such facilities are now a thing of the past, so is there any point my taking my young grandson to "see the aeroplanes?"

Thanks. That's good to know. Car Park 5 sounds a little bit less hospitable though than the old rooftop area complete with vending machines! :D

I'll check it out. There's always the ride on the shuttle if nothing else.

Much obliged.

The one that was upstairs in the terminal has long gone, there's still an outdoor one by the southern end of the runway though. There's also Sheldon Country Park at the other end of the runway by Marston Green Station where you can stand directly under the planes as they come in to land or take off.
