Interesting to note...
Today is the anniversary of William Huskissons death in 1830 and during the Rainhill trials which were to determine motive power used over the following decades.
Rest in Peace
Apologies if this topic is under the incorrect section. Please move as necessary.
My Senior railcard expired a short time ago (May 24th). My wife has sufficient Tesco Club Card vouchers (£15 worth) to enable me to buy my next railcard at half price.
Tricky bit now.....The Club Card...
Real Time Trains (RTT) is reporting the KGX departure @ 07h17 this morning of an Edinburgh service passing through Sleaford at 0900. Is this another Ghost Train that occasionally appears on this programme?
...appears to be open!
At least the thrice weekly sand hopper train originating at Middleton Towers (Kings Lynn) destination Goole Glassworks appears to have used the avoiding line several times over the last week.
I shall miss the roar of the GBRF 668xxx picking up speed through Sleaford...
Mods - if this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move.
I'm planning on taking out a HOE 3 in 7 day Rover mid March in order to visit Oxford (Day 1), Shrewsbury (Day 2) and Chester (Day 3) and returning home each evening. I have already purchased 2 out of the 3 Day Return tickets...
Can anyone in the know please advise what has happened to Train 662N which was supposed to have left Whitemoor at 11h32, passing Sleaford at 13h09 and arriving Doncaster up Decoy yard at 14h41 today.
As RTT said it was purported to be trailing (not my choice of words) 2000 tonnes I thought I...
Yet again we'll see HST's and a varity of other rolling stock on the joint line this weekend and I believe for the following 4 or 5 weekends due to Engineering work between KGX and Newark.
Up here, we call it turnip bashing!
Probably going to buy one from my local station tomorrow to commence next Monday.
Not a Photter or any other 'train enthusiast' - just like to take it easy for a week and perhaps return home most nights. I'd like to see some decent scenery so that must include a trip to Mallaig and also the...
My sister in law is returning to the USA today. She holds the return portion of a super off peak ticket, Kings Cross-Grantham, the outward portion being used on May 30 to get up here.
Are there any restrictions on which train she can catch when travelling from Grantham to Kings Cross this morning?
Never visited Oxford, so planning a day trip tentatively planned for June 22nd.I can achieve total ticket price (using off peak day returns) of £32.20 With Senior Railcard) as follows:
SLR - DBY £10.10
DBY - WOF/WOS £11.20
WOF/WOS - OXF £10.90
Total £32.90
Now this cost compares...
I used to use the NRE website to find out prices/routeing of various TOC Rangers/Rovers. The detailed info on the NRE website, such as route maps and pricing has disappeared.
I have checked a few TOC websites (FGW/EMT etc) and find that EMT seem to have no info at all, but FGW has limited...
On March 12 we purchased the following advance singles for travel on May 14th using the EC website and using a Family & Friends Railcard (ordered on line but not yet received)
1) Anytime Single CAN/DEE - 1 x adult + 2 x children under 15
2) Advance Single DEE/YRK - 1 x Adult + 2 x children...
Yesterday, my wife and I, both travelling on advance singles, encountered a few delays which caused us to reach our destination Sleaford [SLR] at approx 17h20 instead of 15h55.
We had travelled from DEE (Dundee) leaving there at 09h06 and planning to change at Edinburgh [EDB], York [YRK] and...
Can anyone please explain the reason for East Coast Trains (EC) not releasing their cheap advance singles over the weekend of March 26/27th?
I had noted that a similar embargo (is that the right word?) was in place for the previous weekend, but has now been lifted ie no restrictions.
I'm...
Hi - just a quick few questions..
My Wife suffers from a very mild form of Epilepsy (petit mal) which does not hamper her every day lifestyle. She does not suffer from foaming at the mouth or any other similar symptoms.
She therefore carries a DSB railcard which we both use with me acting...
The EC website again today has a litany of train/signalling/operating incidents etc causing delay and cancellation to numerous services.
You can usually find similar instances most days, and the problems just don't seem to be getting any better.
Surely in this day and age the technology...
