Yesterday, my wife and I, both travelling on advance singles, encountered a few delays which caused us to reach our destination Sleaford [SLR] at approx 17h20 instead of 15h55.
We had travelled from DEE (Dundee) leaving there at 09h06 and planning to change at Edinburgh [[stn]EDB[/stn]], York [[stn]YRK[/stn]] and Grantham [GRA].
We missed the 14h01 East Coast service at [stn]YRK[/stn] due to the late arrival of the EC service at [stn]YRK[/stn] (11h30 ex EDB). East Coast staff at [stn]YRK[/stn] told us to catch the 14h29 service to Newark Northgate [NNG] then a connecting EMT service NNG to SLR via LCN arriving SLR at approx 16h20 (2K45). We managed to get the EMT sevice at NNG and got as far as Metheringham [MGM] where a passenger fell ill and the train sat at MGM for an hour while the emergency services were called and we eventually arrived at Sleaford about 17h20.
Can someone more knowledgeable than me advise us if we have a claim and if so, is it against EC or EMT. Our tickets were purchased from Red Spotted Hanky.
Thanks
