The "weekend first" upgrade on LNER seems to be excessively priced. Travelling from Doncaster to Newcastle I was told it was £35 which seems to be very over the top for a journey of around 90 minutes. To go a bit further is £45 apparently?

Currently Preston station has no water supply and therefore no working toilets. They have put some temporary portaloos outside the main entrance as shown in the image below. I am not sure if the cafes are open or not. The Whistlestop is but they can't sell any hot drinks.
