I know the bus is faster, but apparently the train line is quite beautiful. What kind of rolling stock can I expect on this route? Also I read international tickets can only be bought from the station ahead of travel, is there any risk my chosen journey might be sold out if I just rock up and...

Ever since the franchise has fallen into public hands, the Greater Anglia site seems to be having a trim in terms of links to certain pages and having them removed from the navigation bar so they become hidden. Everything under the About Us section appears to be removed, including the sections...

Can someone explain why it is no longer possible to get a direct service at all in February? It seems all of the Eurocity trains from Berlin to Warsaw are now boarding only until Warsaw, so essentially anyone can get on at any stop at those stations, but can only get off at Warsaw and a similar...

I've just won an auction for an LNER upgrade on Seatfrog. However there is no mention of the seat reservation on the journey I have won the auction does. It does have a three digit reference on the ticket 'Lxx' which looks suspiciously like a coach and seat number without explcitily saying...

I've just booked an advance ticket that involves a layover of over an hour at Peterborough between trains. If I asked the gateline staff at Peterborough to let me out so I could do some shopping at Waitrose just outside the station building, do you see it would be a problem? I know...

Is there any engineering work or not? There is nothing on the Greater Anglia site, but journey planners and the apps say: We don't yet know if this journey will be affected by engineering work, please check back closer to time of travel. I'm literally arriving to the Airport at 8pm and if...

Has there been a conscious decision by Network Rail to stop advertising platforms as early as they used to at Liverpool Street to try and get people to spend more money in the retail outlets? Quite a bit over the past few weeks I've seen trains sitting at platforms for ages but only having the...

Hi All, Can someone tell me what is going on today in relation to rail replacement buses? The GA journey planner disagrees with their own literature who disagree with their own staff... The GA literature says that rail replacement buses are running between Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds and if...

I'm currently in Germany on a trip for a week, so thought I'd share my experiences here. Will slowly add to this over the next few days. A fair bit of new/modern/unusual things around these cities, so I thought I'd see what I can find. I'm here primarily for work reasons, but in my spare time I...

All - What is your experience with getting refunds from Greater Anglia for not providing First Class on services that they should have done? At the moment I'm trying to claim for several journeys that they substituted a Stansted Express 745 in for an Intercity one, one from a few weeks ago and...

Does anyone have an accurate Seat Map for these? I've got a PDF version of one from a few years ago, however I'm just picking a seat on intercity.pl and the seat numbers seem to be reverse to what I expect? On the plans and last time I was on them, you had the numbers counting up from the...

*Mod Note* This discussion has been split from this thread: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/firstgroup-general-discussion.65668/ Aircoach in Dublin have just had 16x Volvo B8RLE 2 door MCV Evora's delivered. In addition, they have sent staff from around the group to Dublin to cover for a...

Just saw on Irish road passenger transport forum that at long last Irish buses can be tracked!

I'm seeing Greater Anglia website listing fully flex off peak return fares cheaper than single off peak fares on the same train. For example on the same trains Ipswich to Stansted 63.70 shows up as cheapest when searching for single But Ipswich to Stansted hare fare 20 off peak day return...

There's been a continuous problem with the 482 Ipswich to London route where one or two journeys on there often don't track a all or someone seemingly logs on to the wrong journey on the ticket machine which gives a load of nonsense on bustimes.org or their own coach tracker. This especially...

So it seems that Siemens are now talking about taking HS2 Ltd to court following the recent action by Talgo about a similar issue. The comment from Siemens reads At this stage it looks like Alstom are probably a shoo-in at this stage, either via their own bid or the joint venture one between...

Strong rumours suggesting that Alstom are very much in pole position for this contract, both on the French side and on the Irish side. Can anyone substantiate it?

So as we know there will shortly be social distancing imposed on vehicles but there seems to be little to no plans as to how operators are supposed to be able to provide enough capacity to serve the public that need to travel to work unless grants are provided. For example in East Anglia we...

Does anyone know what is going on? There's constantly trains being cancelled left right and centre and trains which are running but not starting from Liverpool Street but further up the line. Staff at the station have no idea what is going on and say they can't get hold of anyone to tell them...

Tommorow I'm booked on a journey from Ipswich to Southend Central that involves changing at Liverpool Street and walking to Fenchurch Street for the 11:48 train to Southend Central. However the 11:48 train from Fenchurch Street to Southend Central does not appear to exist in the timetable any...
