Currently on the classic line between Málaga and Seville which is pretty painfully slow as timetabled. Decided to do it as it was only 30-45 mins more than the coach and the line is scenic.
However, turns out we are running an hour or so behind schedule so far, with dozens of extreme speed...
Through a monstorous collection of split tickets I did Cardiff to London in the 'high peaks'.
Both ways the loadings were poor, most notably on the return where I pretty had the entire carriage to myself (on a Thursday as well).
I'm a bit lost why "the railway" thinks this can possibly be...
Interesting with the work happening on the SWML they have an easement for the early 0507 Cardiff train (super off peak) to allow people to get 0556. However, they do not have an easement for the 1848 (as the 1918 is no longer running).
I know a few people that get this train - would they be...
I had the unfortunate luck of travelling on one of these services last weekend (flew into Heathrow, travelling from Cardiff).
Firstly was horrendously busy - had to stand from reading (where I boarded) to ~Bristol. Pretty sure people were left behind at reading.
Even worse the 10 car train...
Interesting I've noticed I'm getting some signal from EE in the severn tunnel. LTE800 5MHz. Is this from a leaky feeder ESN or some freaky ability for the signal to propagate down the tunnel?
Not sure if this is allowed but thought it maybe easier to track this than in the huge main thread.
As far as I know this is the state of play:
1) planning approval granted by Cardiff council at least a 2 years ago now
2) new planning application in for flats next to it, which includes an...
It seems to me that the transport ticketing situation is a bit odd post Deutschland Ticket? Obviously it's great that the Deutschland ticket exists but it leaves the other tickets set at a very strange price.
Take Aachen to Dortmund. This is €77.20 return on the RE service. But the D-Ticket is...
Hi,
Going to Koln for a few days on Sunday. Any good idea for tickets for me and my partner? We'll need to get to/from Koln to the airport (and back) and want to go to Bonn for a day. Potentially Dusseldorf too. We'll be in the area for 5 days total.
I was thinking of using this...
I was wondering what people thought about this idea?
I was thinking that us as rail "enthusiasts" could start using BTPs report a crime function on their website to report all graffiti on trains we see?
I'm extremely unhappy with the spread of it on the network and I suspect a core part of...
I'm curious to know how much could have been saved on the project if it was basically built without environmental/NIMBYesque regulations/mitigations?
Let's assume that the government still had to pay any compulsory purchase costs at market rates - so they couldn't just bulldoze a new corridor...
Hi, currently at Gatwick going to Kalamata. Flight has been delayed by... 2h59 on the dot so far according to easyJet. Given the delay obligations start at 3h for this flight sector I find it a bemusing delay.
Think easyJet may be playing other games though. I only got informed around 2am of...
Got two together Railcard, for 2 people. Have a stupidly early flight (5am on 1st april) from Gatwick so pointless getting a hotel as I'm a night owl anyway and wouldn't be able to get more than a couple of hours sleep.
Going out is "fine", but coming back is a problem (8th April) Was going to...
Went on the bakerloo for the first time in many years today. The rolling stock is in absolutely terrible condition - carriage was tagged everywhere inside plus every glass surface was etched with tags.
Starting to look like a 1970s new York Subway carriage. What's happened here?
I did see some previous threads about this but I think the SJPN disaster shines new light on this.
I really have a sneaking suspicion that TOCs using Trainline data is going to prove to be a massive legal headache.
I was genuinely quite surprised when I started seeing cases of these happen...
I was caught up in the storm yesterday and the abysmal state of cancellation data did not help matters.
RTT seems to be the worst for showing actual cancellations, I assume this is a different data source
GWR app was showing as trains running (then the 2248 "vanished", which is when I knew...
Hi, my partner has a super off peak cardiff to paddington.
Given the disruption I messaged on their behalf GWR this morning on twitter to see if they are waiving peak restrictions for tickets *today* (they are for all older tickets).
I got a message saying that would be fine.
Partner gets to...
Does anyone know of any plans on this?
It's been in the press that Bristol Airport is starting a major expansion project (on top of the new carpark/bus station), and also asking for an increase past 12m passengers.
Given I believe it was one of the fastest growing airports after the pandemic...
Thinking of going to Innsbruck for a few days in the new year, am I right in thinking that the "weekly ticket Tirol" would cover all public transport in innsbruck (including to and from the airport) and a few day trips outside innsbruck in the Tirol region? Seems quite good value for 50 euros...
