GWR Swindon diversions

I had the unfortunate luck of travelling on one of these services last weekend (flew into Heathrow, travelling from Cardiff).

Firstly was horrendously busy - had to stand from reading (where I boarded) to ~Bristol. Pretty sure people were left behind at reading.

Even worse the 10 car train didn't fit in bath spa station and no announcements made. This resulted in pretty farcical people of trying to move down a completely crush loaded train to get off.

1) why wasn't there any indication on departure boards that the train wouldn't fit in bath spa platform?
2) would there be no way to run more than 1tph on the diversionary route towards bristol?

Last Saturday they were running 2tph, one to Bristol and one continuing into South Wales. On Sunday it appears there was only 1tph I suspect due to train crew constraints.

Normally indications about short platforms are made via on-train / station announcements. Only occasionally have I seen it mentioned on live departure boards.
